Clarkson for Spezza straight up?
Could be worse.
Something is amiss in Ottawa. Face of your franchise captain leaves via free agency one year, and his replacement as captain wants out the next?

How so?? - burn
he is the epitome of what ails the Sens and the Leafs ..... all offense, no defense, self-centered play
I was referring to Kadri here ..... Toronto fans fail to see this, thus they overrate him |

I don't know one Leafs fan who thinks Kadri is a strong defensive player. He has a lot to learn about the game. You just don't go trading a guy with his skill set away for nothing. He is a first rounder, there is a lot of potential there. He'd burn us like Steen did this year if we dump him.

23 years old. First full season 20 goal scorer and 50 points. Last season 44 points in 48 games. He's not even close to entering his prime.
You overrate spezza. Do you think he is still that 26 year old center entering his prime? Nope. He has a few years led of his prime so don't think he is worth kadri and a high draft pick. Kadri and a below average prospect is what he is worth. Expecially when you consider that he is a UFA next year.

Kind of a silly blog here! Spezza contract isn't up until the end of the 2015 2016 season for one. Secondly Ottawa doesn't want Kardi not at all! Why would Toronto give up anything when they know Spezza wants to be in Toronto and just grab him when he is a free agent and give up nothing? Maybe Toronto gives up a little next year by the deadline if they will make the playoffs this time, maybe! |
|

Why would the Leafs want Spezza? We already have Kessel who who plays with no balls why add a self-centred player like Spezza who plays with no heart? Is he talented? Sure. He's definitely not what the Leafs need though. |

Well, we know straight out of the GM's mouth that they liked Kadri at the draft... so there's some smoke there... but I don't see the Leafs parting with anything of too much value for Spezza. |

For what it would cost to get Spezza you get get Eric stall who is a better center and 1 year younger on a longer deal. But neither i want to get for the priece. The two centers we need to look at going for are Jordan Staal and O'Reilly. |

I think most SENSible fans can agree
It's not worth getting Kadri back in a deal (if it were to happen) because our center depth is ridic.
We
Need
Defense!

Ottawa was begging Toronto not to pick him or make a trade to aquire him at the draft - Daddichronic
It's a bit of a stretch to use the word "begging," especially since the whole Burke/Murray exchange can be seen on YouTube quite easily, but as the other fellow with the nice socks up above said, where there's smoke there's fire. Murray was interested in drafting him, and I see no reason why we wouldn't want Kadri in red. He's a skilled player, very confident, very weasely - he can put pucks in the net and opponents in the penalty box. But as good as I feel Spezza is, I don't see Kadri being a piece that Toronto would want to give up for a guy with as short a remaining self-life as Spezza could have left. |
