So did they have to take him out on a stretcher tonight ? - BashCH
Now I understand. If a player goes out on a stretcher then it's ok to ask for criminal charges and such, but just a "head injury" where the player can get off the ice it's ok to cheer and rant at said player? Yeah, stay classy Montreal

I get that but he was the 3rd man in on a scrum and cross-checked our player in the back and got a cross-checking for it. Your Habs brethren are saying that's a bad call. Understand now? - uf1910
I understood before. Just making sure you understood the call was a cross checking call. |

If you look at the video, Briere , plain and simple, came in and cross-checked paquette. There's no grey area at all on that penalty. Briere took his two hands, put them on his stick, and shoved paquette with the stick from the back. - RileyB77
No question. |

Well I feel he will be back well ahead of the game tomorrow. He will be back in 4 hours and probably more pissed than he was in here. "Calm things down"? Over the internet? - RileyB77
Yes, calm things down. That's the job. It is what it is. |

so, as far as i can understand this, the Lightning being 3-0-1 against Montreal in the regular season makes them better than Montreal, and their 0-3 playoff record in the last 5 days doesn't count. you're certainly entitled to your opinion, no matter how nonsensical, biased and fanboy-esque it is. - DoubleDown
Nope. It's pretty clear, after watching both teams all season, that I heavily feel the lightning are the better team. Look at all the stats you want, I'm sure lightning win 90% of them. And it's not just stats, they finished ahead of them in the standings which means in-game play is a factor, I'm not basing it just on stats. The lightning picked a poopty time to start playing bad hockey, and the canadiens picked a good time to start playing the best hockey of the year. It's not really biased at all. It's actually a fair opinion. The lightning, when at best, are the better team. They are losing 3-0 because they're not at their best. Like I said many times, good for MTL for playing wicked hockey when it counts. But, with a combination of good MTL hockey and horrid tampa hockey, we are down 3-0
That's why its frustrating, because if we played our game, we could be up 3-0 or tied or whatever. Just not down 3-0, that's for sure. I'm not sitting here complaining about the bad call (I think it was the wrong call, but it is what it is. It happened, time to move on) but I will complain about not playing good solid Tampa hockey that we've seen all year. It sucks for us, its a part of a good process for our young team and coach, but its still the playoffs and it still sucks. |

Tampa is missing a key player in their lineup and i dont think we need to mention him.
Hint: Its not Malone.
the 0-3 record doesnt say poop about the team. They lost against the canadiens , yes but any team can go in a bad one week stretch. its simply too much of a small size sample to evaluate a team vs another.

Officiating was pretty brutal I'll admit, and mostly in favour of the Habs. I can't defend the disallowed goal at all. I will say that the Briere penalty that got the Bolts their first was pretty god awful as well, though not nearly as blatantly important or detrimental to the Habs as the disallowed goal was to Tampa. Habs got lucky on the calls tonight, and it hurts even more when you're on the wrong side and it's the playoffs (not to mention a gam as important as this one).
The one thing I will stand up for, is that I don't believe Emelin was trying to intentionally hit Stamkos. Can't know for sure, but I don't see it as similar to the Neal knee. - ehabs9

Correct.
And it was pretty dumb on Briere's part. Stupid, stupid penalty to take.
Interesting fact: Briere is part owner of the Junior franchise in which Paquette played a few years back. |

This is the second time you've used this one. How do you know that that particular fan was one of the 9-1-1 callers? And what does that have to do with the current series? |

you're right... but we've all seen this all to often before...
now the Lightning will compensation calls - usually at meaningless junctures - "to balance things out"...
and they'll creep back in the series, perhaps winning one, I doubt they can win two.
then Habs wrap it up.
no different than the game the Habs won over Ottawa that ended Ottawa's season, and built the Habs confidence.
call it coincidence, call it luck, call it whatever you like.
it just does seem to happen fairly consistently for the Habs. - BorjeFan4Ever

When Montreal fan calls us whiners b/c of bullpoop officiating in the CURRENT SERIES, I am certainly inclined to answer back with a history lesson of Montreal fans whining |

Yeah. I heard something about briere owning a JR team on TV. Didn't know paquette played on it. I'm glad MTL didn't pick him in the draft. He's played pretty well |

Refs aren't restricted to 4 hour bans...
Some constructive comments have been made on both sides, so let's not go overboard. I don't see either of these teams as bitter rivals. Good opponents, for sure.
