Emery has not sucked in either game. There's talk that maybe Mason could have stopped 1 of the PP goals in Game One, but Emery has been their best player both games. Anyone who says he "sucked" after Game 1 is just wrong.
And FWIW, he was great yesterday. |

Have to think if he's having post concussion symptoms, that he wouldn't be put in front of the media almost every day. - feelingkettle
Possible, He'll, I'd love it to be whiplash, personally. Lot less ambiguous in terms of long term problems...the thing that makes me feel it is a concussion is the fatigue at the end of practice |

Yes, but it seemed like Price had time to reset. You can't have a goalie initiate contact and then call no goal once the goalie is able to reestablish positioning, which (to me), he did. IOW, you can't have a goalie initiate the contact, and then call no goal if it's scored at any point before the next stoppage. Judgement call, though. - jmatchett383
He did, and I agree he was able to restablish position, and it seemed to me as if the contact was not the reason why the goal was scored. |

Can I just say I want to reach through the radio and strangle Michael Barkhan? Thats what I get for putting wip on for more than 30 seconds.
Mason is soft..
shouldn't take his time...
nobody can be 100% in the playoffs...
don't let the door hit you on the way out..
seriously? the media in this town is horrible at best. Thats why bogs and bots will be reporting instead of the beat writers in less than 2 years. - the deaninator
he wasn't calling Mason soft or anything like that. what he was saying is he thinks Emery should play until Mason is 100% BUT he doesn't want to hear the goalie say he is ok with Emery playing until he is 100% healthy. He rather see Mason say he wants to be in there rather than saying he is ok with Emery playing.
Now I think that statement is stupid as well but just wanted to get it right. |

Price had ample time to get set for the shot after the contact. I like how Stewart explains it in his blog-ref is following letter of law, but missing the spirit - Jsaquella

ref's name was francis charron and the habs won cause of that |

emery makes me cringe when he's in goal he'll get his lateral movement exploited soon enough to destroy him |

His lateral movement is not a strength of his game, but he was able to anticipate it yesterday and made 2 great side-to-side saves. He was the deserved #1 star yesterday, and has probably played as well as or better than Lundqvist so far (only 2 games). |

I think the fear that the Flyers have with Akeson is that while he is very skilled, he is kind of slow and not very strong. He is also questionable defensively. I'm not saying that he can't continue to play well, but it is very rare for a player to succeed just on skill alone, usually you need to also have speed or size. - BiggE
if he keeps up the good work he'll face tougher checking, but for now i'm just happy to see him do well |

I don't remember how the puck entry happened on the Stralman interference call, but the penalty was a direct result of one of the Flyers best forechecking efforts of the game. I think it happened with the first line just keeping spectacular pressure on the rags D, and as a result Stralman had to tackle Hartnell as he was cutting into the slot.
All three guys including G were working their butts off and were very effective in that shift.
It was something G and company did that resulted in a PP that altered the game.
But the story line is "no shots again for G". Ha.
He made a difference yesterday and was noticeable to those watching the game. - Marc D

He was great both games.
His lack of lateral movement hurts most when killing penalties. Flyers still need to improve in that area if they have a chance to win this series. |

As will most goalie who are forced to make post-to-post saves all game long. Eh, blame Hartnell. |

Whether Mason played in those first 2 games or not, this seris would still be tied at 1. You can make a case Mason might have stopped on of those goals but Flyers still lose game 1. You can stop cringing because Emery has proved he belongs playing while Mason is healing. We finally have 2 goalies we can win with and some of you are still not happy. |

People were harping on his lateral movement but good gods, what team in the playoffs is consistently giving up those cross ice lanes? The Flyers aren't getting them that's for sure. Lets get closer together and get some sticks on pucks. Those ice cream struck size passing lanes in the first four periods were completely ridiculous. |

I wonder how slow Akeson really is? Haven't gotten a chance to really see his speed or lack thereof. And as for his size, he's as big as G, Read, Rino, etc. His ability to defend seems a legit concern, but hopefully that was exaggerated because he was on a bad Phantoms team. |

I think his skating is just average. I don't think he's fast, but he's not overally slow either. |
