She felt really guilty. I understand why. I've never been too concerned with people's feelings so I didn't give a poop.

I wasn't going to stand in the way of things though. I don't care enough.

I'm not a fan of Downie by any means. I hope he's able to resume his career. It's been a lost year for him.
- PLindbergh31

I root for him. I actually like him as a player a lot. I think that he got a bad rap this season partially due to the injuries. No denying that when he was healthy in the early going, he became the lightning rod on that line with Couturier and Read.

He's a better player than what we've seen this season. Would like to see him get another chance here when he's at full strength.

I'm paying for my wedding. So it's destination - with the people I want, with a giant party here for friends. I refuse to let guilt touch me.

I bet he gets a chance someplace else. He won't make a ton, but I do think there will be teams who at least check in to see if he feels healthy enough to play.

Thats what we wanted to do, but our parents and friends guilted us into having a normal wedding. We're the first of our family and friends to get married. Everyone told us how upset they'd be if we eloped.
- PhillySportsGuy

i had a small private family wedding. still had issues, mostly because my MIL wanted to run everything and asked nobody else for their input, including my parents. cause a lot of stress. in the end, given the circumstances, i think it turned out well. is still a sore subject for my wife for a variety of reasons, and we were on the same page the whole time.

my opinion of huge gala weddings is they are a giant waste of time and money.

my last piece of wisdom is to remember that the wedding itself lasts only for several hours. what is truly important is everything that happens after it. the actual marriage. which is theoretically supposed to last until death.

I often wonder if there is any correlation between size of wedding (amount spent and extravaganzaness) and length of marriage. If it's all about the wedding (for the bride, the groom, or either set of parents) is the relationship ever really at the center?

I agree. My wife and I had a pretty average wedding and enjoyed every minute of it. And time FLIES during the reception. You spend all this time preparing and prepping to make it perfect and it seems to be gone in 5 minutes.

We had 75 people. Did it at a nice winery. Food was fantastic, music was good. We worked together on everything, and she had veto power. We took all advice into consideration, but we made our own decisions in the end. People still rave about how great it was.

Everybody knows that if you don't get the satin slip covers, 12-foot-tall floral topiary centerpieces, at least five-a-side bridesmaids and groomsmen, that 4th tier on the wedding cake, and the best damned Air Supply cover band that money can buy, that you're more or less doomed to immediate divorce and a life of misery.

I asked my fiancee if it would be wrong to arm our bridal party with swords...
Somehow I don't think the above would work for me.

You can also get the world's top Nickleback tribute band if you want to add on an extra 6 months of marriage. That's part of the extended package.

I asked my wife if we could ride a horse into the reception to "O Fortuna." She vetoed it immediately. Almost put a halt on the whole thing.
