Berube seems to be falling in love with that 3rd line a little too much. - Yosimar89
Yeah -and I think that reflects his philosophy. Play sound D, check, counterattack. Problem is, Flyers forwards are just not good enough to score goals on their own against this crew. Three of the 5 goals have come from D, 2 while pinching.
Blunt truth is, their 4rth line has played better than our first overall. |

I agree with you on vinny. Streit has been one of their better defensemen, i just hate his contract because you know it's going to bite them in the ass in 2 years.
personally, i think they go year to year with no long term plan. it's always trying to fix what went wrong last year, instead of developing a plan and sticking to it.
Personally, I think they absolutely need to address the defense next year, but by that I mean moving on from kimmo and getting rid of grossmann, since he is just luke schenn with less puck skills.
They also somehow need to get giroux a scoring winger. A pure scoring winger who will shoot when he gets the puck, and not think twice about it. - the deaninator
I agree with all this except giroux and the scoring winger... Hes not playing with lyle and hardy out there. He needs to start making players around him better and inposing his will on the opppsition. Thats what elite players do. Until he does this, imo hes not one. |

Im sorry that people percueve me to be another party pooper/troll now adays but seriously theres a reason this team is in a perpetual state of mediocrity and the biggest culprit is the good ol' boy club. Fire clarke we get homer, homer goes about business no dufferent than clarke, now we got hextall lined up... This is a joke especially when you have this much salary invested in your forward corps and have been unable to get a real number 1 30 something year old defenseman without fleecing your roster. Homer showed or at least i thought he showed me something when he moved richards and carter... But then he has a meatball thrown at him with the weber fiasco... Theres no player on this roster at that time or now who should have been off limits, then to remedy that, we go out and sign two has beens last offseason to big money deals... #pathetic - JoeRussomanno
Holmgren equaling Clarke doesn't mean Hextall equals either of them. Hextall will do whatever he does on his own merits. |

Did giroux even register a shot on net yet? - JoeRussomanno
Not sure. He has been mediocre, but I give credit to a guy who carried this team to the playoffs.
Secondary scoring was invisible all year, and we have that shown to us now when the other teams are able to focus everything on Giroux.
Hard to blame G for me, and always will. They threw him in the fire, the good old franchise boy for marketing after seeing first hand what that can do when you do it early in M Richards. He has handled everything well, and I'll always be behind G.
My issues, even with my hate for some of the slow footed no puck skill guys on the squad, fall solely on management and at this point coaching. Player turn-over has been continuous, what are the constants?
Are we moving in the right direction? Generally, but overpaying for aging players with big contracts after just buying your way out of the same mess shows they learned nothing. The movement in the right direction is there, but hindered too often.
Anyway game 4. Hope they bring it, want to see Timonen given a bit more of a last 'hoorah'. |

The Rangers played better than the Flyers did tonight. That wasn't Game 7 and it's not the end of the world.
The Flyers will get a boost when Mason comes back and they'll take Game 4.

I posted earlier that after the 3rd goal, they sat back in a defensive shell. Thats all they had to do.CSP isnt going to to give up some weak slop and the Rags werent worried about shots getying through. Rags adjusted now its up to the Flyers to tweek their approch so we dont hsve to hear: blocked, blocked, blocked.
only brightside I can put forth is this team has been resilient and usually plays better when their bscks are up against it. - KINGKENZO
Rangers adjustment consisted of them playing their B- game instead of C- game. Bam 4-1 win.

They are playing the best, then the 2nd line, then the 4th line, and then Jake... I hope G
Has a good reason why he he had decided not to play this series... He needs to go out and just hit. Forget about offense and just hit... - CACannon18
When you need offense, you should probably get your most talented players more ice time.

They're trying to address the defense the only way possible these days... via the draft. Who will get impatient first waiting for them to develop? The organization or the fans? |

So Montreal gets into the 2nd round before the Kings and Sharks play their third game. - tangent_man
it's almost like the league has 2 different groups working on schedules ... one group likes the every-other-day approach, and the other one likes 2 or 3 days off between games.

showed the jake "fight" on highlights. I have no idea how that wasn't called 5min a piece for fighting. I think Bill is on to something with his calling it roughing so they don't have to call no fighting strap attached. |
