My first time rewatching it...
- wolfhounds
Didn't think it was possible, but I now dislike Carcillo more than I did before. What a phony-baloney tool that guy is.

looked to me like Carcillo DID take a shot from Read's shoulder ... but no doubt he was also milking it for all it was worth.
still, the league needs to take a 2nd look at that, and it wouldn't surprise me if Read was fined. |

only Rinaldo,Hall and Raffl had less ice time. - nastyflyergirl
Makes zero sense. Berube is doing some things that are very puzzling to say the least. |

The same type of effort as last night, but with Mason in goal and a few more shots getting through on Lunkqvist, will result in this series being tied after 4 games.
I still believe in this team.

Exactly. Trouble is, Staal & Stralman are a damned good pairing, too. - Jsaquella
This. Hell, even Moore/Klein...that's a flat-out ridiculous third pairing in today's NHL.
It's just tough sledding out there right now -- those guys can all skate, and their ability to recover is making it really hard to get anything going off the rush, while their size is making it difficult to cycle against them
The Rags are just tough...doesn't mean they can't be beaten. Means that doing it is a lot easier than saying it

My biggest issue ref-wise has been consistency. They've made ticky tack calls, and minutes later ignored blatant, obvious calls.
I wonder if Carcillo got called as sort of a retribution for acting like a sniper got him when he & Read collided earlier - Jsaquella
A player, getting hit at or near the head, can't have their reaction be judged too much.
Read's hit wasn't vicious just as Neal's wasn't on Giroux, in Game 3, but Giroux looked like Mike Tyson caught him with a right hand after that bump.
Regardless, I think Carcillo will never get the benefit of the doubt, from the officials, but that is a bed he knows he made for himself.
The officials have not been consistent, at all, in this series. Yes, the Flyers have been called for some suspicious penalties but the Rangers have as well. The Flyers need to be more disciplined but this is not a new issue for them; weren't they the most penalized team in the league this season? |

If it had been a regular season game he would have. - bmeltzer
NHL hockey is the hardest game to ref...
With that said, the refs are given waaaayyy too much discretion out there. Just think of the mental checklist these guys have to go through before they decide to put their arm up or not...
- Are we playing under the regular season rule book or the post-season one?
- What are the most recent league protocols? Ooh head shot! Arm up!
- Is it early on in the game? Arm goes up. 3rd-period or OT? Let it slide.
- How much do I like/respect the offending party?
- How much do I like/respect the victim? I think he's a wiener, no call.
- Man, think I blew that last call... time to even it up to shut their coach up.
- Oops, was so busy running down the list I blocked two clearing attempts... my bad. |

Carcillo was like that when he played here, too.
He'd go down like he got shot by someone from the stands and miraculously be fine for his next shift. |

I think it makes more sense if he's trying to leave some gas in the tank because he thinks the series is going long and he doesn't want to wear them out.
But I said last night that I do think he's gonna ride the horses hard in Game 4, and I won't be a bit surprised to see it start early if they don't get a lead

I want to see forwards go to the net with and without the puck. Too many times are the forwards hitting the zone with speed and ice in front of them, right down the middle, and turning their back to the net. Lundqvist was giving up some real juicy rebounds that we're trickling to that back post but no one was driving. Infuriating to watch. |

Officiating is incredibly difficult in all sports. I filled in as a ref for a youth basketball league of 12 year olds and that was extremely difficult. I can't imagine what its like trying to officiate professionals. |

I wasn't happy with Timmonen last night. He's such a smart player but over and over and over I watched him not contest a zone entry because he was worried he'd give away a break away. Unfortunately, everytime he was on the ice they could enter our zone like they were at the park chasing butterflies.
Don't get me wrong I adore Timmonen and he's a great player but last night was a really bad game for him. |

2 days off in between games 3 and 4. Shouldn't be an issue imo. Flyers are down 3-1 mid way through the third period WTF is Rinaldo doing on the ice? Dumb |

He's had a very rough series. All those years of playing through injuries is finally catching up to him. We've grown accustomed to him being an effective player no matter what was bothering him.
If he comes back, I would like to see him come back towards the middle of the season. Having a healthy Timonen for the playoff sprint would be ideal. The guy is always so banged up by the end of the season. |

That was funky; but I think the lines got scrambled after a PP and he needed to run the fourth line out there for a shift to get them back online
Again, I'm not saying I agree totally with player usage; just saying that I can see some reasons why Berube's doing it this way

There is no one to replace him in the lineup. I mean the score dictates who you play in that situation. Berube has to shorten the bench. Double shift Giroux/Voracek |

The game was lost in the PP set up. I'm sick of their lack of creativity and puck movement. - wilsonecho91
you and me both. it's so stale and predictable, and especially lousy on home ice. i want to punch them all in the face. |

I'm not saying Rinaldo can't touch the ice when the team is behind, but I would like to see them ride Giroux a little more. FWIW, the top line has scored goals with McDonagh on the ice at even strength in two straight games. |
