I'm slumping.

GiG and Hammar have stepped up for playoff time.

To be honest I could also see Laughton and the 1st get shopped for a skill winger who can contribute now.

I really just don't see how they get Laughton into this lineup in a meaningful way. Okay, the 4th line next year. But what do you do with him the following years when G,Vinny,BSchenn and Coots are all down the middle for the foreseeable future?

Get a good NHL ready D man, get G a legit 1st line LW. I just don't see how waiting it out works given Laughton's complete lack of experience at playing wing.

I'm a little surprised Tyler Johnson is a Calder finalist over Maata, Lindholm or Krug.
- PhillySportsGuy

I'm not. 24 G, 50 pts. Set a Tamba Bay franchise record for goals scored by a rookie, passing Stamkos' previous record of 23.

I personally think that B Schenn should be moved to the Wing permanently. I think that is an option. And I also think there is a good chance that B Schenn is traded.

He's 23 though. I guess that shouldn't matter, but I feel a 19-20 year old, 30 point defenseman is more impressive. Krug is 23 too, but he had 40 points.

I understand that nobody wants to blame Emery, the point is that a good goalie may stop that shot. May have kept the Flyers in that game. In a defensive series like this one. You need better than average goaltending and IMO the Flyers havent recieved that to this point. We are lucky to be only down 1 game because of that fact.
- GOA88

I doesn't matter I don't think Mason stops Giardi's shot. He probably stops the 1st and last goal but we are still down by one and not generating any good scoring chances. I think Streit should be the QB for PP unit #1 and get put Timonen on unit 2.

PP Unit 1 - Umbrella
Levavalier-Giroux- Simmonds
Streit-Voracek

PP Unit 2 - Overload
Hartnell-Schenn-Couturier
MacDonald-Timonen

Unit 1 has Simmonds screening, G on the left side as usual Vinny on the right and ocassionally behind the net when puck is placed there. Voracek in his usal spot and Streit manning the point. I feel as if he has the harder shot and more accurate shot and we all know Flyers look for that point shot.

Unit 2 would have Hartnell and Coots winning those board battles and Schenn in the middle looking for the tip and the Dmen just trying to get pucks on net

Those are definitely two distinct possibilities. Ideally I'd like to see Vinny moved so BSchenn can take over that 2nd line Center role and then they pick up a sniping type LW. We shall see.

First, before all of that happens, we need to find out what the hell Schenn is looking for in terms of $. No chance in HELL he gets more than Coots. Maybe a Raffl type deal but nothing that makes him a FA at the end of it.

Anything over 1.5/1/7 and I'm throwing him out the door.

I'm sure berube and holmer desperately want b schenn-vinny-Simmonds to work Bc where else are you putting those guys?

If vinny wasn't so slow and bad defensively they'd have something

Vinny blows. He is hampering this team. If only holmer had a shred of patience on the young centers he's acquired

Flyers need to decide what they want with Lecavalier. If he's not going to center a scoring line, then they need to move him in the off season. When Lecavalier was signed, there was a different coach and style of play in place. Lecavalier is more of a fit for that. In my view, Berube wants his centers to be solid defensively, and to be on the puck hard in all 3 zones, and to skate well. Lecavalier is not a good fit for that. He's pretty much an offensive forward. Giroux, Couturier, and Laughton seem to fit the mold better going forward, for how Berube wants to play.

Lecavalier is still a good player, and while he's not fast. He is not slow either.

I think the whole reason for getting Vinny was that Homer felt he could play the wing and take over center if an injury occurred. I just don't see where he fits in. I had the same issue of thinking where to put him when he got back from injury

I think the idea was for Lecavalier to center the 2nd line, and that's where he was when the Season started. Then the coaching change, and the injuries. I don't think the plan was to play him on the wing. Because the Flyers are pretty well set at RW.

Just imagine, next year we get Matt Read at 3.6 million instead of 900k.

I think we may have gone a little too high on his contract.

Guarantee that he won't. And I think that he's going to get more then Couturier got. The Flyers may trade him, but it won't be money related.
