At the start of the year Vinny and Schenn looked great. Vinny had 2 major injuries. Back injuries can take a very long time to FULLY recover from.

I herniated my disc last November (with two bulging discs as well) and I could barely walk. Got the epidural and felt great. Could do anything. Didn't realize that I wasn't healed. It was just masking the symptoms. The meds wore off... and I crawled to the bathroom.

Did they ever say what happened to his back?

Guarantee that he won't. And I think that he's going to get more then Couturier got. The Flyers may trade him, but it won't be money related.

After a day to get over last night I think the following...

1. The season comes down to tomorrow.

2. Based on skill, age and performance the only 2 players I dont move on this team are Voracek and Giroux. I would be more than willing to use Couturier and/or B. Schenn for a legit number 1 dman under 30..That leaves Weber and Subban.

3. I find it ridiculous that the Rangers have continued to run Giroux , generally legal hits, and no one is doing anything about it. Why has Read been our most physical player to this point. At no point in a series where you are struggling to score goals is it good for Voracek to drop the gloves. Besides being in the box he could break a hand and then we are even worse off.

4. I blame Berube for not playing Rinaldo, Giroux and Voracek more..Yes, I think Rinaldo can do things that , when not hurting the team, change the style of a game. Please no more 20 mins of DV2..that is great he can play a solid defensive game but you can't win games 0-0 and DV2 has been below average at best offensively over his first few years.

5. Are Simmonds and or Giroux hurt because they are both playing that way.

Well we'll find out eventually what B Schenn is going to be re-signed for. Goal scorers tend to get paid more then defensive checking forwards do. So I'm thinking in the 2.2M range for B. Schenn. And a little more then Couturier.

Doesn't matter that he is at his ceiling as a player. What matters is what kind of player he is, and what his role is. A player that can play in all situations, play both sides of the puck well. Skates well and can provide offense, is an extremely valuable player to have. And his deal is a steal. Because a player like read, in Free Agency, can get more. Significantly more. And there aren't many players like Read in the NHL. Especially if he would be used in a different role then he is here.

You've understated how much of a steal Voracek's deal is. We were 9th in the NHL in goals for, and were the only team to boast 7 20 goal scorers. That's with one of the worst offensive starts in league history, and playing a defensive system. I don't know why people think we need another big scorer.
