I would think long and hard about amnestying him. I think Halak is a decent option. Pass on guys like Brodeur and Thomas. I wish the team could use Doc Brown's Delorian and jump on Corey Schneider. - stayinthefnnet
I don't know that you have to amnesty him...a team like Minnesota has to want some stability in net, if even for the regular season, and Heatley is coming off the books for them |

Dubinsky had 41 pts at 22
D brown had 46 pts at 22
Rofl - Just5
They don't play similar games at all. Point totals don't make 2 players similar. Dubinsky was a better all around player than schenn.
Look, you guys keep thinking Schenn is all these other players. He's not. |

i hate that part of me is actually really happy for them as a fan base.
(frank) dubinsky though. wouldnt have minded as bad if it was johansen - stayinthefnnet
Yeah, there's no way not to be happy for them, even if it stings a bit. Plus, another strong fanbase is good for the NHL as a whole, and that's something we all want. Further, Pitt is gaining a good, close rival, and that makes everything more fun. |

I think Tim Thomas or Brodeur might be good options. They wouldnt be fazed by the big moments. If they were to come in as a backup, they may help if Fleury performs like Fleury in the playoffs. |

I think it's more that he might develop into those players. |

I don't think Thomas should bother with another year. |

It's in division, but the Islanders have to hit the cap.floor and I bet they'd roll the dice on a 29-year-old Fleury for a year. Buffalo might want to do something, too...i tease Fleury a lot, but you can move him with just a year left on his deal |

Who'd have thought that taking a year off from hockey in your late 30's would impact your performance, right? |

So Schenn could become Dubinsky or Richards. Win/win! |

I think that year off was because an injury. He was pretty bad this year.
Sometimes a team makes a goalie, than he leaves and finds out he really was only good there. |

Who knows, a new team might do him good. And let's be real, he's a good goalie with something seriously akimbo. But that seems to be Pitt as a whole right now. |

You would have to offer better than a 10th overall pick, or a prospect better than Horvat at the time. |

NJ should sign him. He's a shootout phenom. |

exactly. i just refuse to believe when they say oh itll never be a hockey market. just no. look at any team that supposedly has a problem. you put them in the playoffs, and they can usually pack a building. that place looked like it was on fire.
between just always being pathetic and the road schedule making it virtually impossible to latch onto road games, i dont think columbus has been given a fair shake to see how much of a market they can become. |

Sometimes that isn't true. In Tampa they give away thousands of tickets just to fill the stadium and call it a "sell out".

I didn't know that. I thought he just decided to take a little break, kind of like Jagr going to the KHL. But there's almost no doubt that after playing hockey every year for almost his entire life, his body probably needed some time off. |

ill concede tampa. they just literally seem to be a tough sports market in general. could be the makeup of the city, i dont know. but even when the rays were really good, they had difficulty. |

My sister went to OSU so I spent some time in Columbus. It will work as a hockey market if they can put a decent product on the ice. People do care about the team. |

I see a guy who just can't handle the pressure of the playoffs. It happens. He's the modern-day Curtis Joseph.
That isn't a crime, though...you can win regular-season games and make the playoffs with a guy like Fleury, and for a team like the Islanders or Buffalo, maybe even Vancouver now, the first step is consistency in the regular season |
