My sister went to OSU so I spent some time in Columbus. It will work as a hockey market if they can put a decent product on the ice. People do care about the team.

i dont think the change to the east gets considered enough too. it probably prevented a good deal of younger fans from being able to latch on.

but yeah. oh, fans arent packing the house for an inferior product. itll never work...

ill concede tampa. they just literally seem to be a tough sports market in general. could be the makeup of the city, i dont know. but even when the rays were really good, they had difficulty.

No one really cares about professional sports here. It's always gators/hurricanes/Seminoles

exactly. i just refuse to believe when they say oh itll never be a hockey market. just no. look at any team that supposedly has a problem. you put them in the playoffs, and they can usually pack a building. that place looked like it was on fire.

between just always being pathetic and the road schedule making it virtually impossible to latch onto road games, i dont think columbus has been given a fair shake to see how much of a market they can become.

- stayinthefnnet

Biggest problem in Columbus has been that the team was never that good. Keep making the playoffs and doing damage and they will build a fan base.

Yup. Plus they aren't playing as many 9pm or 10pm local time games now that they are in the East, that helps generate more interest as well.

I see a guy who just can't handle the pressure of the playoffs. It happens. He's the modern-day Curtis Joseph.

That isn't a crime, though...you can win regular-season games and make the playoffs with a guy like Fleury, and for a team like the Islanders or Buffalo, maybe even Vancouver now, the first step is consistency in the regular season

its infuriating, because all of this happened AFTER he won a cup. its not like he could never get there. hes been to the top of the mountain. im not a huge stat guy for goalies, because they can be very deceiving. in the 2 cup run years, he was absolutely an integral part of those teams.

Yeah that's huge here too. I don't get it, but whatever. Golf is probably just as big. People talk about golf all day long like it's great.

Golf is the most boring thing ever. Spend 5 hours drinking and hitting a golf ball around? Or sleep in and get a good nights rest and rest peacefully at home.

is or isnt? i imagine trading with NJ would be like pulling teeth, especially after they acquired him and committed to him.

Hard to say. So few things work on the Oilers, but the line of Hall Nuge and Ebs (when they actually get to play together) has been dynamite. I think Mac T has to exhaust all other resources first.
If he can't move a pick , or leverage Gagner into a useful player and hit a couple home runs in free agency than I suppose that he will. It's tough, he's not holding a lot of cards to deal.

Nuge, Ebs, and Hall are absolutely a ridiculous trio. But I really dont see a whole lot of NHL ready talent that you guys could convert into significant assets. Could definitely have something brewing with this current pick, and guys like klefbom and nurse considering how they pan out. But the whole pool gagner with something never yielded much in my mind.

Definitely stay off Twitter -- the stats guys have crunched his numbers and concluded that he is, at best, an average goalie.

it is interesting -- he's got the reflexes of a No. 1, the size/athletic ability. But as far back as the World Junior tournament back in the day, he just gives up goals in key spots that just kill his team

the body language of the Pens going off the ice was BAD
