It's weird to want to cast off a dude with MAF's physical talents, but you are not wrong in your analysis.
- johndewar

its weird for someone with his ability to just be so utterly unable to do it in big moments.

this isnt like a guy just not being clutch or whatever, or being unable to go to greater lengths.

this is literally comical. the guys who say that fleury is an awful goalie are technically incorrect, and usually just stupidly biased. however, at the very least he needs a change of scenery to try to revive his career.

More of just a general post but barring any trade what do Flyer fans think of next season? Looking at the cap we have just enough to bring in Ghost, Laughton and resigning baby Schenn and low and backup goalie. I would think if changes are needed, some serious salary wiill need to be dumped or traded.

No worries! I realize not everyone loves that stuff, and I try not to be that sensitive online.

Repeat: Try.

I love stats and different ways to look at the game, but I feel like many #fancystats acolytes don't fully get it.

MAF is a good goaltender with a "between the ears" problem. Re-writing his career based on a carefully selected sample size feels self-serving.

I hope they play Gostisbehere in the AHL for a season at least.

In fact, I'd rather him stay there for the entire year, then start there next year and be a callup for injury. He needs to work on his "pro hockey" game.

I've seen the dude dominate games just with his obscene ability to go post-to-post.

He's not even 30, which, in goalie terms, is young.

Watching him play in that frozen four was tempting as hell, though.

To me, Baby Schenn has little negotiating leverage. He had a weird, bonus laden contract where his cap hit was higher than his actual salary, so I doubt he'll come in at a bad cost to the Flyers.

Well, to be fair, they crunched all of his numbers, including playoffs. Though they are overstating some, let's be honest: the playoff trend is real and legit

Sure is. He's got plus speed and a plus shot already, and he isn't even filled out.

This kid really could be a good player. Shame he's on the smaller end but hey- it's not like shorter guys can't be effective NHL players.

I don't think we see Ghost playing consistent minutes with the big boys until sometime in 2015-2016 unless he completely tears up the A

I feel your pain with finals. I'm in the middle of it.

I just took an exam and handed in a project today. In the midst of writing an essay right now for tomorrow. Oh and I have an exam tomorrow.

And Friday. And Saturday (SHOOT ME IN THE (frank)ING FACE) along with a SOAP note due that day. And an exam on Monday. And Tuesday. And Thursday.

My apathy for all things life for the last number of months has been staggering.
In the last few days though, this pool of apathy has overflowed and evolved into just an aura of nothingness. I do not care about schoolwork and everything the (frank) else right now to the point that it's just a cloud of nothing and therefore can't be described as anything. Even apathy. Because apathy in and of itself is something.

It's hilarious.

Tearing up the AHL is exactly what I think is going to happen with Ghost. He's going to leave the brain trust no choice.

my god yeah. there isnt anyone quicker in the league from post to post. and hes great with the poke check too. has a quick glove, but when the pressures on it becomes cement and full of holes.

like i said, the regular season numbers arent there, but thats because he plays behind the most lackadaisical defense ever assembled.

some games hes given up say 3 goals on 26 shots. makes for a pretty crumby SV%. but if you watch the game from beginning to end, its usually split along the lines of 2 goals that no one on earth would save, one that a dyslexic marmot could have stopped, and a handful of saves he had no business making because it was just a 2 on 1 shooting gallery.

Hey, I like numbers and metrics. Using the word "fancy" was a failed attempt to be funny (and I know alot about failed attempts to be funny).

I just think people can perpetuate whatever narrative they want using stats skewed towards their argument. I see it everyday.

it makes perfect sense haha. its alarming that just when you have the most going on and need to be your best and grind out a little longer, you suddenly cannot be bothered to care, despite working all year for a grade that will be decided in 4 hours.

man, sounds eerily similar to MAF.

I think the Flyers are making plans to get this kid some AHL games. Im thinking 20-30. Then bring him up on the 3rd pairing and to QB the 2nd unit. Streit to the 1st unit.

Look, I've seen all of Marty Brodeur's career.

I'm not saying he's not a HoF'er, because he totally is.

But, if he played in a different organization, would he have had the same career??? I think that's tough to say.

This feels like one of my Steve Mason rants.

National hockey writers love giving Steve Mason poop without actually providing context to his play.

MAF is likely a victim of that to an extent.

No, don't be sad.

You are one of the few people that know how to laugh when the Flyers are going bad. DON'T CHANGE NOW!
