You can see Read bending his knees and lowering his shoulder right before contact... maybe that was to protect himself, or it could have been a bit of a cheap shot. It could go either way. - Tomahawk
I think Read knew exactly what he was doing.

The Flyers spent the most time shorthanded this year. The Sharks the least. The Flyers were playing shorthanded for 180 minutes more than the Sharks. What a waste of time - eayost

Sharks PK time 362 minutes
Flyers PK time 542 minutes
That's a huge percent difference. They're just so dumb sometimes |

Probably.
I think Carbomb knew what he was doing, too.

On the other hand, they spent the 3rd most time on the PP.
I thought the Refs are always against the Flyers? Anyways, maybe they could try next year to continue earning PP time via hard work and cut down on penalties yea? Simple right? |

The part i really don't like is how he feels the need to go to the press and call out the fans in a city where he played nor how he threw Leighton under the bus. He's a fringe player and needs to keep his mouth shut. - Hextall271
Yea well, is anyone surprised? Once a clown, always a clown. Somehow he always comes out clean on the other side. It's frustrating but that's how it goes for weasels like him.

The same type of effort as last night, but with Mason in goal and a few more shots getting through on Lunkqvist, will result in this series being tied after 4 games.
I still believe in this team.

Im just so glad we don't have Carcillo on our team. The Flyers really need to purge themselves of these types of players. You can see they never get any benefit of the doubt. |

I agree. Mo idea how that clown didnt get a 10.He went right after the ref and I think bumped into him slightly. Still the rangers are getting the benefit of most of the calls and non calls. In Game 1, I would agree with you, but in Game 2 and last night there was no benefit of the doubt from the officials for the Rangers.
That call on Carcillo was a joke, the lack of fighting majors doled out, to Voracek and Hagelin was also pretty stunning as well.
The Flyers are not playing disciplined this series and to suggest the refs are screwing them over is skewed, to say the least. |

Dolan has paid off the refs and Bettman allows it to happen because the league hates the Flyers. Get with the program. |

If anyone cares Giroux has guaranteed a Game 4 victory. Which probably guarantees we'll be facing elimination in Game 6 and another guarantee for that |

okay legitimate question. By the end of both of these first round matchups, the over under for collective goals by crosby, giroux, and malkin. ill toss out the first number at 4.5 - stayinthefnnet
Would not take that bet
Any of the three players could go nuts in a single game and light it up
But it is hard to do in the playoffs, the opponents game plan is to shut these guys down |

2 more points and we qualify for a best-of-3 playoff round, I believe.

My biggest issue ref-wise has been consistency. They've made ticky tack calls, and minutes later ignored blatant, obvious calls.
I wonder if Carcillo got called as sort of a retribution for acting like a sniper got him when he & Read collided earlier |

So no credit goes to the best shutdown tandem in the league or the all-world goalie behind them for stifling G? - Tomahawk
When in doubt, make sure you blame your team's best player. Bonus points for if said player is one of the league's best and if you come up with a catchy nickname to mock him when things go sour, because he's obviously not trying hard enough

The officiating has been bad for both teams.
The St Louis goal he interfered with kimmo and got position on him after knocking him down.
On the Streit goal you could argue that G interfered with McDonagh that caused the turnover leading to the goal.
The hook call on Carcillo was awful.
The two minute roughing with Jake and Hagelin benefitted both teams.
If they called a fight then Hagelin has to be tossed from the game.
The 2nd game the officials started out calling everything which was the opposite of game one where for the first 50 minutes they put the whistles away and all sorts of cross checks and hooks were let go.
Overall the refs have been miserable. |

Maybe so. Officials hate that sort of stuff and Carcillo's name is mud with the officials anyway. It was a bad call. OTOH he nearly got himself an unsportsmanlike conduct tacked onto that penalty but got a second warning. If it had been a regular season game he would have gotten an extra two. |
