Man I thought the Red Wings were going to cruise. Up 2-0 on a power play, and then Bertuzzi gets nabbed for a Chara flop and it's 2-1. They call that @#$%, and Marchand gets away with a cross-check or a slash EVERY shift.

No, you're right. Marchand is a really skilled hockey player. What is that now, 4 empty nets he's missed in the last 2 games.

We fell victim to the same old curse that has plagued this team the last 3 years, the curse of the 2 goal lead. I expected it, so it wasn't much of a shock, considering it always seems to happen. This team can't hold a multi-goal lead to save their lives.

Oh well, that's how it goes with this team.

Also doesn't help that Babcock has a love affair with Glendening and plays him way too much...a guy that can only score if a puck pinballs off of him into the net, that isn't shutting down anyone and won a whopping 1 faceoff in the entire game. This guy should only be seeing 5 to 10 minutes per game max not 18 minutes like he played last night in a pivotal game. The good news is that with the game last night, Glendening has to clear waivers to be sent down now...expect him on the roster for the next 3 years no matter what as long as Babcock is coach.

Really frustrating to see some of Babcock's line combos and his use of certain players. Kindl on the PP over Smith...if Babcock was coaching Washington, I bet he would have Green playing the PK and have Ovechkin playing the point. I like Babcock as a coach but he can be very pig headed with things that just don't work.

I've noticed that Glendening loses cleanly ANY big faceoff situation that Babcock put him in. Including the faceoff he lost that led to the first goal of the game for Boston. He also lost the faceoff at the end of game one with 10 seconds left in their own end (at least the Wings won that game).

I still don't think he's an NHL caliber player. I'd rather see him get sent down and get claimed on waivers. Way too little upside for him to even have a roster spot in Detroit IMO. He still belongs in the AHL... and even with the Griffins he was an average player at best;

I agree...I just don't see why Babcock has such a hard on for him...he's a fringe NHLer and doesn't do much well enough to deserve the type of ice time he is getting, especially against the top lines of other teams. The way Babcock uses the 4th line is crazy...this isn't the grind line who could do a lot of things right defensively, physically and chip in some offense.

Problem is as long as Babcock is coach, Glendening isn't going anywhere and will get more opportunities than almost anyone on the roster. Proof of this is the lack of offense by the Wings in this series and Jurco gets scratched while Glendening is still in even with plenty of better centers on the roster. If Alfie plays the next game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tatar join Jurco with the scratched while Glendening stays in the lineup.

If the Wings lose this series (likely) it will be interesting to see who they send down to Grand Rapids for their playoff series that starts tonight. I'm guessing Jurco and Sheahan will both be sent down. Glendening was okay in the AHL... but he's not a NHL player IMO. He was just average in GR (he did not stand out in any way when I watched him play). If the Griffins make it to the finals.. it will be because of their defensive depth. They will need an infusion of offense to go deep in the playoffs so getting a few forwards back will help them a lot.

Callahan is going to wear a mask and can play in about three weeks I heard after taking that huge shot from Sproul in the mouth. He lost eight teeth and had oral surgery to repair his jaw. I saw the selfie picture he took of himself before he went to the hospital in the Detroit News and it was just plain nasty.

Yeah Jurco and Sheahan will go down most likely...i think they are the only ones that still can. I watching the Griffins game as i type this waiting for overtime to start. Mrazek has been solid so far in this game making a lot of huge saves. His puck handling is miles better than Howard or Gus and i think the Wings could really use that against Boston. Backman with his first goal. The Griffins do seem like they could use a bit of offense to help out until Callahan comes back. Athanasiou has looked good. He's got great speed and hands. Hope they win it in overtime.

Do you have the URL link to watch the Griffins ?? Would love to watch them if it's a free broadcast.

I'm going to to Friday's game if they don't sweep this series. I saw Sproul got the game winner. I really want to see Backman and especially Athanasiou play in the AHL and see what they can do. So far they seem to be doing good. It really sucks that Jarnkrok is gone... he would be getting a ton of ice time and could have helped the team. One of the WORST trades ever made by Holland for a mediocre rental in Legwand.

I use http://redwingslive.net/ to watch the Griffins games but you have to register for the site and be accepted (it's free). Once you do, you can watch all the Wings or Griffins games and they even archive the games so you can watch them later if you missed them. Also had an option (not sure if they still do) of picking the audio for either teams to listen to which I found to be great.

Mrazek was huge last night...well deserved 1st star of the game. I was impressed with Backman. Good speed, hands and seems very smart with the puck. Athanasiou was playing with Pulkkinen and Nestrasil on the first line. He's Helm fast but much better hands. He's learning in the pro game that dancing around one or two big defensemen is a bit harder in the AHL compared to CHL but you can still see the talent there. For someone right out of juniors, he's looking very good and should only get better. Janmark and Nastasiuk have their moments but you can see they have some adjusting to do for the pro game.

Hated the Jarnkrok trade at the time and hate it even worst now. Something like Ferraro, Eaves and a 2nd or 3rd round pick should have been more than enough and if not Holland should have looked elsewhere or not made a deal. Way too much to give up for Legwand especially since Holland said the reason they Jarnkrok was that they didn't see a spot for him on the Wings going forward which means there is no spot for Legwand either (pure rental trade). With a trade like this, I get why Holland doesn't make many trades...he's not good at trades and seems to pay more than other teams would. He also is starting to overpay for UFA's and to re-sign their own players. Wings should get a solid assistant GM and let that guy handle the signings and trades.
