They'll get a coach that runs a defense first system and Ovie will be on the next plane. - tangent_man
he could be gone before then. honestly, i wouldn't care. he does nothing for the game. who gives a poop about his 50 goals anymore? i'm serious. i'm tired of him. hopefully, he's tired of the nhl. |

I thought Oates was a defense first type guy.
They might as well just let the team run around. At least they were exciting to watch and made the playoffs. This version of the Caps is much less exciting. - PhillySportsGuy
He may have been; I didn't follow them that closely while he was there. I'm thinking that a coach may come in that will hold Ovie accountable and he ain't gonna like it.

He was simply tremendous down the stretch -- the Rags couldn't forecheck him. He was amazing last night.

He should be stripped of the captaincy immediately.
I would put him on the market and see what people would offer for him. I believe Backstrom is, far and away, their best player. He's a legit #1 center and they have some decent young forwards.
If OV could bring back a top pairing dman, I would get him on the plane today. |

Huh...that might be a really good fit for them -- I think he appreciates the value of offense; he just never really had it in Nashville.
If he went there, I think that actually might work, believe it or not.

I don't think it weighs on him. I just don't think he cares much about it. How can a guy who doesn't back check be your captain? |

Hunter was defense first, Oates let Ovie roam, Trotz would be a long term defense first guy, either Ovie back checks, or he joins the ex coach & GM. |

Depends on the new GM and, I guess, Leonsis will put his $.02 in, too. I'll be waiting to see what happens, since I have Ovie in my Dynasty league. If he goes to the K, the only thing I won't miss is that horrid +/-.

I actually don't really care about stats. All you need to see about how a player is playing is seen with your eyes during the game.
We all see Giroux laboring out there. We all see him struggling to deal with the tight checking. He's played below our expectations, far below.
If he was getting a ton of chances and not scoring I wouldn't be concerned. He'd eventually break through it. Instead, he's getting almost no chances.
I think VL has had more chances actually. VL couldn't even handle the puck last night on multiple occasions. Was tough to watch him. |

It really is hard to believe this series is tied 2-2 with the overall way the flyers are playing. The rangers are going to come with everything tomorrow and the flyers better be prepared.
We finally have a goalie that can steal a game. What a difference it makes. Emery played well in his place, but it's clear Mason is big a upgrade in mobility and game changing saves. I've been waiting a long for the Flyers to finally have a young goaltender like Mason.
I hope reader's goal last night gets him going offensively. He's a guy that can score in bunches and we need someone to do it.
Also, I'm really starting to love when G makes his lead pipe guarantees.
LETS GO FLYERS!! |
