Wanting Claude Giroux, who is the team's best player, to play like he's the best player, is holding him to a mystical standard?
Not sure what the rest of those players have to do with Giroux. And I don't know who called Giroux a loser, but I sure didn't. But stating that Giroux has not played well offensively in this series, is not inaccurate. Nor is it unreasonable to state that the Flyers need Giroux to produce better offensively. And in doing so, would give the Flyers a much better chance of winning this series, and going further in the playoffs. Feel free to point out anything in my post here, that you feel is false, or inaccurate. - MJL
Enjoy the battle. Tried to say this earlier and wound up getting frustrated and getting emotional. |

It's simple: In a team sport, there are guys who are better players. But at the end of the day, no one player supercedes what the team is able to accomplish.
Would the Denver Broncos have beaten the Seattle Seahawks if Russell Wilson was their quarterback and Peyton Manning played for the Seahawks?
No. They wouldn't have. Just because one guy is a great player doesn't mean that guy is going to be great against all competition, every time, no matter what his teammates do or don't do.
Just because Claude Giroux's a great player doesn't mean he doesn't need help. It doesn't make him some mystical "catalyst." What does that even mean? If Giroux got hit by a truck tomorrow, then Scott Hartnell can't score a goal anymore? - AllInForFlyers
I mean...I guess I get what you're saying.
I don't understand why this is a big deal.
It's simple. Giroux is capable of playing better, and moving forward, he needs to play better. The Rangers have a lot to do with this. But he isn't playing poorly.
I don't know why everything has to be so black and white with people. |

All we said is he needs to step up and play better. Nothing wring with that.
Making excuses for him is what he is doing. |

The term catalyst is a simple one. Every top team has one. Giroux is the offensive catalyst for the Flyers. How many times has it been said by a lot of hockey pundits, that how Giroux goes, is how the Flyers go. Look at the Flyers record when Giroux scores a goal? Why do you think that is the way it is?
I know I personally haven't stated that top players never have bad games, or bad playoff series. It certainly happens. But doesn't change that the Flyers need Giroux to be better, does it? If you ask Giroux, if he needs to be better, what do you think he'd say? No, I don't need to be better because it's okay that I'm not producing offensively because Sidney Crosby once had a bad playoff series. And because Russell Wilson outplayed Payton Manning in the Super Bowl. If there is any mystical belief going on, it's the fantasy of excuses being made for Giroux's lack of offensive production

Hockey pundits still say the Flyers don't have a goalie, does that make it true?
Tired cliches of "as Giroux goes, so goes the Flyers" mean only one thing: You need better players, because no one player is going to win the Stanley Cup.
Jonathan Toews and his whopping three goals in 23 games last year -- can't believe that guy even has the nerve to call himself a Stanley Cup champion, after that performance |

Hmm, time to sit back, and watch another unforgettable performance from the Flower. Orpik out and Bortuzzo in should make for even more entertaining fun. |

Intelligent and informed Hockey pundits don't say that. Nothing cliche about it. It's true, no one player is going to win the Stanley Cup. But do you think the Flyers chances of winning the Cup are better if Giroux produces better offensively? What do you think the Flyers chances of winning the Cup are, with Giroux's current level of offensive production? And let's not even look at points. Let's look at offensive chances that he is generating? |

No one should be ashamed!
Dude Supernatural and Sherlock are the only shows I watch.
Everyone poops on Supernatural since season 5, but honestly, I've thought they've done a good job with it. It does just kind of keep going though but it's not like the story line is really farfetched. Besides, I like the dynamic going with Sam and Dean. It's interesting. - Giroux_Is_God

How awesome would it be for Philly to play CBJ in 2nd round? Bob Vs Mason! Also what do you think the best matchups are for Philly to win the cup? I think would be my ideal playoff bracket:
2nd Round: Pens
ECF: Habs
SCF: Minnesota
Pens weak D and weak Goaltending would make it significantly easier to beat that an extremely hard working CBJ team and Bobrovski (I think he will play better). Boston is definitely a team I'd like to avoid and Minny is the team the Flyers have the best chance of beating in the West

Ok I'm gonna settle this. Just for you. Please "listen" carefully.
Giroux has not played poorly. He's been hustling all over the ice, he's been the best drawman in the series for either team (I think), and he's played well away from the puck. He has not played poorly.
That being said, he has not played exceptionally, which can be seen as a problem, because he is an exceptional player. The Rangers are blanketing him to the point where he is outnumbered 2-1 when the puck just barely touches his stick. They're containing him, in my opinion, better than he's ever been contained before since he's been in the NHL.
Neither side of the hyperbole can be condoned here. You're being bullheaded and saying that he's playing poorly because he isn't generating offense to the tune of 4 chances a night. Fine. We all know that his offensive game- the biggest strength of his to the team- is lacking. What some people don't or refuse to realize is that this doesn't mean he is useless out there. Another thing some people don't or fail to realize is the Rangers are playing him perfectly. You have to see that and take that into account.
So, this is a whole roundabout way of saying "He needs to be better offensively, but he's performing well in other areas and there is certainly a huge reason he isn't putting up offense, and that's the Rangers. Not because he's a "fraud"."
Crosby hasn't scored in the playoffs in the last 10 games I think? Malkin too, if memory serves me right. Just want some people to chew on that.
Giroux also took a kidney punch in game 1. Can't feel nice.
I have full confidence that once the Flyers beat this team and advance to the next round, G will be in full offensive form because he doesn't have to deal with the checking of the Rangers. What they're doing is pretty crazy out there.

Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, Sons Of Anarchy, Supernatural, The Following, Arrow, Mad Men, Falling Skies, Agents of Shield.
These are the shows I watch religiously that are still on TV.
They all have one thing in common, pure raw emotion, its a good chance you will feel like crap after watching an episode. Either from sadness, anger, or fear. Especially the ones in bold. |
