Have you seen the series? Flyers haven't played with much of anything.
Rangers interfere on a shift by shift basis. It's pretty brutal the officiating the Flyers have received thus far. By far the worst of all the series. - Flyersgod
Ha, keep crying. Calls have been pretty good in this series. How about Mason punching at players with no call? It's been a good series, stop trying to bring outside factors into it. It's a 2-2 series with both teams playing well. If anything the Flyers need to step it up. Mason and Emery have each stole the games the Flyers won. Penalties are the least of their worries. They need more team help for their goalies. Rangers outplayed them but hot goalies happen in the Playoffs. stop making excuses for a series that is far from over |

They should call every penalty in the first 10 minutes-- Once the guys know there is a No Tolerance Rule for B$ they will get down to the business of a great hockey game.
Furthermore if it's a penalty in the first 10 minutes... It's a penalty in OT.
The refs say they don't want to change the outcome, but by their very inaction-- They are.
Players push limits and cross the line on purpose. They put it on the refs to do their job-- and the Refs turtle.

After every game and series no teams fans are happy with the officiating, you can't satisify the masses, too many opinions on what should be called and what shouldn't be called.
If the refs are doing their job and are consistent with their message to the players on the ice and the coaches of what they are going to call and not call, then they are doing their job, and yet they will still miss calls, its human nature.
Any one of us with a PVR at home jumping up saying look he did this, look he did that, what a joke doesn't matter in the end. |

One side will always be mad. They make the call the other team wonders why since it seems they never do. They let it go the team being penalized against wonders why they didnt get a PP. in all reality, it is not the refs fault but ours for our perception on them. we want calls to go our way and nothing else, when it doesnt you get mad. this will never change unless they somehow eliminate on ice officials. or if you have guys go through some kind of training so they dont get rattled in high pressure situations. possible ex-military men who have the skating ability and hockey knowledge? ha i know it sounds ridiculous, but makes sense |

I think if they take powers away from refs, it will slow down the game if there is some sort of 100% system that every little tug and hack gets called, it will be non stop stoppages of play and the intensity will be gone on the ice, guys will just be skating by with one hand on their stick trying to check the puck now.
Even coaching challenges isn't a great idea.....so a play should have offside, 3 minutes of play go by and it results in a goal. So what the coach can challenge it being offside, take the goal away, and you add 3 minutes back on the clock? Thats just asking for more injures as players will be beat down even more having to log more minutes over a season. |

Why should they be different?
Do they play a different game in the playoffs as opposed to the regular season?
A PENALTY is a PENALTY no matter if it's a pre-season game or game 7 of the up finals. Changing for the playoffs ruins any credibility the NHL has built up for itself and tells fans that they don't care.

agreed. there just isn't really a way to get it to everyones liking. a call will always anger half the fans and please the other half |

there is letting up a big and then there is last nights avs-wild game
the non-call on the open net play is an absolute joke, when the play prevents a sure goal you have to call it |

Unreal how much attention gets paid to the refs. All this does is feed a culture of excuses. It's pathetic. |

Montreal was +6. And I love how you point to the Penguins sarcastically. Aside from game 4 they have carried the play at 5 on 5. When you dominate at 5 on 5 you draw more penalties and take less. You can make it into some kind of conspiracy if you want but ask yourself what's more logical: league conspiracy or some teams outplaying others. |
