Just like other major sports... Is the ref behind the plate starts to change the size of the the strike zone towards the last innings? no.

Elastic rules is what is wrong about hockey...

No. Games with 10+ powerplays are what's wrong with hockey

I kinda like it when they swallow the whistles in OT. I think you still have to make the calls to blatant infractions, but I'd hate seeing a ticky-tack hook where the stick grazes a jersey under someone's elbow decide a game in OT.

Flyers run up multiple penalties when the game is already lost, trying to send a message about, "what they bring to the table". Not even the worst refs in the world are going to even those idiot penalties out.
- TJ

That hasn't happened once in this series. Don't kid yourself.

They should just call things by the book - the regular season book - in the first place.
- TheRollingPuck

You mean you're not a fan of calling interference as much as possible during the regular season and than ignoring it in the playoffs?

Watch a rangers game. During face offs it's pretty brutal. After the face offs it's pretty brutal. Moving picks should not be allowed in hockey.

Refs have been really bad this year. However humorously enough they have been consistently bad for all teams, so over a series it evens out.

No.

I know what you mean. It's the casual fans that think that SPEEDSTER would dominate.

The reality with the bigger ice, especially as I saw it in the Olympics, is that it is the positioning that is HUGE!

You can have all the speed you want, but all you will be doing is chasing the puck around the ice.

To be honest, if they did go that route, the bruins would be even better defensively. So go for it!

- JIwasinskiJr

If they adjusted the size of the neutral zone (shrink it like the NHL did), the offence wouldn't be nearly as hampered as it was at the Olympics.

NHL refereeing should be a lot more like NFL refereeing. I don't seen NFL refs disregarding penalties because "it's late in the game" or other such nonsense. No reason why the NHL, in that regard, should be any different.
- Ovation

Boom. Right there. It would bring integrity to the game and increase the quality of the game. Hockey is a crazy skilled sport and that should be grown. If you want to watch guys give each other brain damage and obliterate guys knees, then watch rugby and football.

I like hitting and stick checking, I just can't stand the constant interference. Decide how you are calling the game and stick to it, start to finish. When you call some stuff then let the same stuff go later in the game, then it looks fixed or completely bush league.

They should call almost to nothing in the playoffs. That's why the NHL playoffs used to be so (frank)ing awesome cause they would call nothing and it was a war outthere. Guys would get out of this with marks all over. But winning the cup was worth more in my opinion.

i think a penalty has to be earned at all times of the game, but especially in OT

now what do i mean by that?

As the player in possession of the puck if you are being hooked, held, impeded you have to keep your feet moving and do your best to fight through it. If you do i will give you the call

if you just get hooked and give up, or someone holds you and you stop and look at the ref, no call sorry

im sick of all these weak calls early in the game, then make up calls to make up for their crappy call
