It goes back to 5-on-5 play. This team succeeds with PP goals. If the PP is not clicking, they're sunk. - bradleyc4
Agreed. And with the Rags removing Carcillo from their lineup the odds of the Flyers getting power plays goes down. Although Hagelin picked up the slack in Game 5. |

Very true. I just cant seem to figure out why Berube got sucked into the Rangers game before the series even started!!!! We started playing Devils hockey. We arent built that way. - GOA88
He didn't change the game plan. This team is not producing offense because they can't transition well. Its difficult to get in on the forecheck when you don't hit the blue line with speed.
They don't move fast enough in the offensive zone too. The Rangers rally to the puck quickly. The Flyers need to be more structured and know where to find each other. They need to get it and move it quickly. If they do that, they'll be able to find shooting lanes. |

So you need a team other than the Penguins, Rags, Bruins, Hawks, or Kings to win the Cup?
That leaves you with the Sharks, Flyers, Habs, Ducks, Avs, and Wild.
Good luck with that. - PLindbergh31
yes, this is what i need. although you can leave the habs off the list. if they win the cup with briere i'll go (frank)ing postal.

To me they also seem to be playing scared. Not scared of the Rangers, but scared of the refs. Scared of taking a penalty.
I say screw that, get aggressive, kill the friggin penalties if you have to and score ugly goals. |

They could probably fix the issues in the series if they would snap out of this denial they're in. If I hear them say we played well one more time i'm going to punch someone.
They are playing like poop. Then they string together a couple good poops, followed by a giant turd. - Flyersgod
Well they have faced two must win situations in this series imo. (Although you can make a case game 5 was must win). Let's see how they respond tonight. I wouldn't be shocked if they played their best game of the series and won, on the other hand wouldn't surprise me if they lost 4-1. There is part of the problem. Team is a Jeckyl and Hyde. Consistency is an issue. |

Look at the 7 20 goal scorers.
Giroux
Voracek
Hartnell
Simmonds
Schenn
Vinny
Read
A large portion of their goals came on our powerplay, which feasted on a lot of teams this year. 5v5, not so impressive depth. - Flyersgod
Those players scored a total of 158 goals in the regular season. 51 of which were PP goals.

and their powerplay is average on home ice. it's great on the road. at least it was. they're going to have to dig deep to get out of this series. |

Ok, so you're saying the games we played in the regular season agaisnt the Rangers is the same we are playing now? I dont think so. We actually had chances and OFF zone time in the season. Then Berube says.. "Lets dump it in and play safe, stay out of the box" Not this teams identity. |

They need to get someone to the front of the net and just throws pucks in feet. If the Rangers KNOW 100% KNOW you're going to try and pass the puck to a certain spot, they're going to block it. Like we've seen all series long.
Shoot. The. Puck.
Throw. The. Puck. On. The. Net.
I'm going to puke if they do this 3 man forecheck again where 2 men are down deep and the other is on the boards. If no one is in front of the net, we have issues. No matter what, Hartnell and Simmonds should just skate right there.
At this point I want Hartnell just to skate into the Rangers zone and stand infront of Hank. Even if they're in our zone. |

So about or over 1/3 of their goals were scored on the PP. |

I don't disagree with this, although the Rangers haven't produced a ton offensively in this series. The Flyers are down 3-2 because their 5v5 play has been wretched, and they aren't putting enough pressure on Lundqvist. - PLindbergh31
Rangers only need 3 goals to win on most nights. They're satisfied winning games 2-1. They are a veteran team that knows what it takes to win in the playoffs.
They Flyers are tremendously impatient. They chase the puck around in both zones. I bet the Flyers have done twice as much skating as the Rangers in this series. They need to stay more disciplined. They do not have the Rangers speed and, therefore, need keep a 3rd man a little higher than most teams.
I don't know how many times I've seen the 2nd line have 3 men deep and get caught. |

I have a feeling we're going to see the Flyers DESTROYED either this game or next. Just to add to the fuel of the off season.
Flyers always go out with a bang. BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR! BOOM LOST 8-0.

Read did not have a single PP goal during the regular season. Honestly, to get the best picture, that ratio would need to be compared to other teams.

Even if they play great and win tonight, I think tomorrow night would be really tough. I think they have maybe a 20% chance to win the series at this point. |

I hear you. You make plenty of sense. The two games the Flyers won the goalies stood on their head. That's not a comforting feeling. Yes they need strong goaltending, but it shouldn't be a necessity against this Rangers team that the goalie be the best player on the ice for the Flyers. |

Flyers need to play within the system, as well as staying aggressive, and playing with emotion and intensity. They played with emotion, but outside of the system in the first period of game 4. They player well structurally, but without the emotion needed in game 5. Need to bring both tonight,
I hear a lot of talk that the Rangers are the better team. Well they certainly have been in this series to this point. But I've yet to see the Flyers bring their A game in this series. And when they bring that, I don't believe that the Rangers are the better team. I personally don't think the Rangers are that good. |

I would personally enjoy seeing some good ol' fashion emotion this evening.
Play to your strength. Get under their skin, engage in scrums, target their best and play on that line. There is no reason why they should be skating off like robots, and trying to play in a way that has never given them success.
They are at their best, when the game gets chippy. For the first time this series, make it that way.
If Berube is intent on making no line-up changes, not trying to give his team any sort of spark, then the responsibility does fall on the players alone.
Time to Unleash the Peanuts this evening. No more being scared to play physical, or engage due to fearing penalties. Don't fear the Rangers, and don't play not to lose. Empty the tank. |

They need to accept the fact that it's going to take low scoring victories to win the series.
If they can get past them, they can have their fun playing the Pens in shootouts. |
