i agree he tends to try to set up Hartnell for the 1 timer with all of hartnells flaws he has a very good shot.... and Giroux trys to take advantage of it - flyer186
That's the play they tried to set up on the PP the first few games of the series, with Hartnell at the hashmarks, and the Rangers stifled that pretty easily playing 3 guys on that side of the ice.
Unfortunately, Hartnell hasn't been that good 5 on 5. It's been so bad that G chose to try to pass to Voracek in traffic over a wide open Hartnell in the neutral zone in game 4(?).

They need to shoot quickly at every opportunity and make sure they hit the friggin net. They have to release the puck before the Rangers get in a position to block it and then get to the net as violently as possible.

They can shuffle the lines and whatever else they can think of, but unless these guys come out and play Flyers hockey - hard nosed, in your face, step on the line but don't cross it, make them react to you hockey - they won't be making it any easier on themselves. - tangent_man

They've either been playing with intensity, while not playing smart. Or playing smarter and lacking intensity and emotion. Need to combine the two. And the Flyers can take the series. - MJL
Yup time to put their hands together! big win tonight!! |

Agree, " hit the net" let's get a dirty goal early and put in a rebound. That's how we score. Hartnell and Simmonds...lets get a couple!
I would still have Gus in the lineup |

No more slapshots. Just flick it on net real quick. |

I've seen Giroux try to direct Hartnell a couple times, get frustrated and go the other way with it |

I saw that too. Nobody is getting open for G, just standing there stationary. Its pathetic |

I agree with that. I felt that I would have rather had Gus in instead of Gill for the last game as well. Im not as worried about him getting out muscled as much as I think we need another puck mover to help get some offense going.

I don't understand why it took Berube until the 3rd period of the last game to move Hartnell from that line. He's just not flowing with G and Voracek.

Each game I've watched in the series, I've noticed how hesitant the Flyers have been to play the aggressive, hard hitting hockey I'm accustomed to seeing them play. I honestly believe during game one, with all the penalties called against them and almost none on the Rangers, change the way the Flyers have played this series. They need to play their game and not let the Rags dictate the game. Get pucks deep in the corners and knock them off the puck. They should not be allowing the Rags to exit their defensive zone so easily. So many people are blaming G and his lack of production, however there are a lot of guys that need to step up and start doing something, i.e. Kimmo, Hartnell, Simmer, Couturier. |

Do or Die. Let's go Flyers!
New York did lose a deserved power play goal in Game Five as a result of a referee being out of position to see a loose puck in the crease.
Shouldn't have had that powerplay in the first place. Weak call. |

I hate that Zuccarello, not because he is oh so good. I dont like how he looks like a hobbit of some sort. - GOA88
We thought the same thing which is why when Piere was talking about how BIG his stick was when you met him in person we rolled the 3-legged hobbit jokes all night long. No offense to the player I'm sure he's a nice fellow but man I was crying I was laughing so hard. |

I think it was engblom (sp?) that noted hartnell killed any flow on that line when they would get their speed long up the ice. I would like Schenn, Raffl or read (preferably read) up there tonight the first sign of the hartnell from game 5 |
