hell yeah. i think he will really compliment him well. he will help the entire lineup. he excels in the transition game. and him on the powerplay. he doesnt have a weber shot by any means, but a nice one timer. and he ALWAYS gets it on net. on the powerplay, its huge.
i wish they could keep him. if not, hope he goes out to colorado and just racks up points quarterbacking those young guns. - stayinthefnnet
Would you rather have Niskanen at 7 years $49M or Letang? |

He's top pairing though. A top pairing of Niskanen-Coburn isn't great, but I think it's solid. - PhillySportsGuy
It gives me doubts. If that is the top pairing, and MacDonald and Streit is the 2nd pair. Then that leaves Schenn and Grossmann as the 3rd. In order to afford Niskanen, the Flyers are likely going to have to cut salary somewhere. And if they move Grossmann, who is going to be the top PK pair on defense?

Niskanen-Coburn
Schenn-Mac
It's not great, but Niskanen would make the team better at 5v5 and on the PP |

I say hogwash! And also say hogwash to the only way the Flyers can win is if Rangers play uncharacteristically poor at ES. The Flyers can have a large say at what happens at ES. Because the difference in "fancy stats" between the two is minute. And doesn't mean squat in my opinion. - MJL
They had a +299 shot differential in close situations (1-goal/tied) during the year... Flyers were -68. They also had the 5th-best ES SV% in the league.
Everything spelled a tough matchup for the Flyers 5V5.
With the margin of victory so slim in the NHL, an extra few attempts against when the game is on the line could mean the difference.
It has been the difference in this series so far. |

Awesome. Rangers have closed out a series in less than 7 games in a while. Which means, playing the Flyers is a perfect time to snap it.
Everytime a team has a bad record of something and play the Flyers, they break that bad record.
XXX hasn't scored on the Powerplay in over 300 tries. 3 seconds later. THE STREAK IS SNAPPED! |

If Niskanen asks for anything more than 5.5 million dollars long term you say no. That simple. |

Knowing Letang's health issues now, i'd rather Niskanen.
Knowing the Flyers, we'd trade or sign Letang and that stroke he had would have gone much much worse.
Why this franchise has such bad karam I don't know. |

It really is.
If they said, "THe Rangers haven't won a playoff series by the score of 9-3 with 450 PIM since 1909". You can bet you're f'ing ass that the score would be 9-3 with 500PIM. |

Letang all day.
I'd need to see Niskanen have more than one elite season before I'd feel comfortable handing him that kind of contract.
Letang's been like clockwork for awhile now.
Both guys have numbers that are slightly inflated from playing w/ 87 and 71... that would worry me, too. |

Those stats have zero to do with what has happened in the series. The series has simply come down to execution, and who has been the better team, and who has simply scored more goals. Zero to do with any of those stats. The 5 on 5 fancy stats for this series are a dead heat. Take them and flush them down the toilet. Meaningless.
The difference between the two teams in 5 on 5 close situations this season, is 1.6 shots attempted for per period. Again, minute. Those few attempts are not the margin of victory, and they haven't been the margin of victory in this series. Completely overblown.
And if you look at all the matchups in this years playoffs, it's pretty clear how much real value Corsi has. |
