Good 1st period but still too many turnovers. Why the hell are our players throwing the puck in the middle to Ranger players in our zone? |

Far too reactionary and conservative.
Need someone to make a move to take the puck away, and the D to not back in so freely.
Otherwise solid period. First time they have tried to set the pace this series, even if its kind of ugly. The D is not suited to play this way and the forwards have been playing a much slower tempo all season.
Stay at it though, take it to them. - flyer_nutter
It's not pretty, but this might be the only shot at winning we have. Have to throw the Rangers off their game. |

the whole team was on their blueline or in their own zone when the ranger got the puck in his end on the play i was talking about. he literally skated through the entire middle of the ice without a single flyer anywhere in the same (frank)ing zip code. |

It's just annoying as poop cause that is the tempo of this board at the start of literally every game. It gets so stale. - JAKEw1234
I'm sorry that you don't like people speaking the obvious. They came out awful and 5 on 5 they've been horrific, nearly embarrassingly bad. Someone pointing that out isn't being obnoxious or annoying. I'd say it calling a spade a spade.
EDIT: but they are winning. Change their ways and they can run away with this game. |

Whats with all the female doging about the refs?
Flyers can make the exact same hits the Rangers are making, but are choosing/or unable to. Rangers are just playing hard hockey. - flyer_nutter
because its awful. its like taking a well oiled machine, and just gumming up the (frank)ing engine.

Keep him on the bench. The 4th line can't see ice time.
Schenn, Rinaldo, Hall, and VL should be sitting the rest of the way.

Struggle to play at such high tempo.
I have been critical of Berube lately but I like how he has them taking more chances and the line-up changes should have happened after game 3. Line 2 looks somewhat decent so far.
Its sloppy as hell, but I prefer this to sitting back and being hemmed in your own zone. They seem to be doing anything they can to get it out. Exposing themselves in the process, but its Holmgren to blame for that. - flyer_nutter
How have they been taking more chances? And they spent a lot of time, far too much time hemmed into their own zone. The breakout execution is again poor, and it doesn't have anything to do with Holmgren.

On the plus, I thought Giroux and Raffl had a hell of a period. Much better for Hartnell and Simmonds as well.

when the first guy along the boards is tied up with a ranger, can the 2nd guy come in like a bull instead of standing 3ft away poking with the stick? everytime a rag comes in the other side untouched picks up the puck and skates away. fight for the puck and punish them along the boards |

When everyone keeps pointing out the same thing over and over, and they do it every time there is a game, it is annoying. It gets increasingly annoying when it's unfounded, cause there are plenty of games where they look just fine in the 1st period but a wave of people go ahead and complain about how slow and horrible they look. |

i still think you guys pull this out. mason is on as all hell, and you are playing with intensity. you will win this game.
but if the flyers dont stop trying to think theyre a line of 5 sedin brothers out there at the same time, good luck in game 7. i totally understand the angst. its infuriating. the pens do it ALL the time.
oh look guys. i just did a sweet backhanded drop pass. guys? oh you mean no one was there to get it except the other team? surely i must try again |

Not getting into, but you see exactly the faults of Holmgren that period.
The team trying to set the pace and move the puck quickly starting from the back end. Unable to do so.
I don't see how a team assembled by a GM has nothing to do with him. |
