you can't have it both ways. If it shows how good Kyle turris is then it also shows karlsson is poor defensively - EnzoD
This is bang on...
Maybe not specific to this thread, but people like to bash Spezza for crappy +/- and praise Turris for his great +/-. In the meantime, Karlsson has a terrible +/- as a d-man.
I don't understand some Sens fans sometimes. |

Tarasenko and Schwartz are probably the only two untouchable players currently on the Blues roster. They already think way too highly to move them, unless it was an unrealistic deal like pulling Toews, Crosby, etc off their teams. I could see them trading Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk before the two of them.
Berglund is still an RFA and should get much more than the $3.25M he received this year and would very much be in play. I'd be surprised if the Blues moved one of their young roster players (other than Berglund) for Spezza since his contract expires after next year, he is 30+ (I believe), and will be looking to cash in on one more big contract. I would not be surprised if they'd be willing to move somebody like Rattie and while they have traded away some of their high picks, we still have a few others to replace them like Edmonton's second rounder.
Based on how they didn't use him at all in the playoffs, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Paajaarvi moved. - Jackman
Paaajaarvi is useless. Won't get anything realistic for them. I'd be surprised if St.Louis did anything drastic this summer. Great core over there. No point on shaking it up. |

Agree on Paajaarvi. I wasn't talking as a centerpiece to any deal, just as an extra piece to be moved. The most realistic package I could see for Spezza would involve Berglund and/or Cole plus prospects/picks. At this point too, the Blues don't have very many near NHL ready prospects. Cole still has upside, but has been too inconsistent to stay in the lineup with STL.
I personally don't think the Blues should shake up the core with a trade, but Stastny seems like the only FA center that would be an upgrade. I hope they make a run at him (assuming he doesn't resign) and then explore trades if that doesn't work. |

Meh a right shot pmd isnt what we need tbh .Stlouis may be a good landing spot for Spezza ,but iam not sure if the pieces they would be willing to move, fit ottawa,s needs |

When everything is done and the dust has settled the deal will be Kahdri and Clarkson for Jason Spezza. - spatso

Berglund (resigned), Cole and a pick at most. St. Louis is not giving up Oshie, Tarasenko, Schwartz, or Rattie. You have a better chance getting Jaskin in my opinion. But the Blues are one the verge of done with Berglund. He would help puck possession time in the East though. Ian Cole could become a 4 or 5 Dman for you today.
The only interesting thing I heard was Shattenkirk. If they move him, it is an overreaction to a bad series. - bluenoter
Really getting warm here. |

i don't think they'd move oshie straight up for spezza and neil, and certainly wouldnt' throw in schwartz.
i still think shattenkirk/rattie would be about right. - sensarmy_11
I think Spezza remains a Sen because the offers will not be good enough. The proposals here are not realistic. |

LOL... This would be a disaster for Ottawa. Well maybe if the Leafs kept 50% of Clarkson's salary and added Gardiner... |

Disaster for both teams.
I would not give you Kadri for Spezza (all things, like age and salary and health considered)... and if you have to take on that Clarkson contract, you lose.
Great example of a lose-lose deal.

Keith is career +125 ... Worst year of -11 in 05-06 and that year they were the worst team in the nhl
Karlsson is career -26 ... he was -30 in2010 and -26 this year
you have no argument. Keith is a better defenseman than karlsson. - EnzoD

One Wings fan proposed a trade on another site for Karlsson which I told him would never happen but just want to see what the reaction is from Sens fans.
Erik Karlsson for Tatar, Franzen, Mrazek, Kindl and 1st rounder while the Wings retain 1.25 million /yr from franzens contract. Thoughts? |

Ottawa wouldn't
Neither would Toronto
I guess stranger things have happened but I really wouldn't bet on these two teams making a significant trade with each other. |

Not a Sens fan, but no way I would part with Karlsson and if I would, that package would not come close.

That's what I told him. Wings could use Karlsson for sure but the Sens need him way more so the price would have to be a massive overpayment. |

There is no package of any players on detroits roster that would make me move karlsson.

I just don't see the Blues wanting him that much with the centres they have unless one of them is going the other way. I could see the Blackhawks could use him a lot, but I'm not sure they could afford him under the cap and keep all the great wingers on the Hawks. |

Spezza is not what Toronto needs, but he would be the best centre to wear the blue and white since Sundin |

No way they trade him to the Leafs. Would have to be a free agent signing, but I think Spezzas had enough of the Canadian media, he's ready to go play somewhere warm. |
