Lets remember that Ghost is coming from college and not junior. he is playing against more mature players in size then he would on most junior teams. I am not saying he is a lock for the team. But I am not going to stick him in the AHL because I am scared of what ifs. Our defense can use his talents and if he is top 6 after camp then your not being true to the team or the players on it |

There were too many factors this year for me to write him off as "useless". If go so far as he could be an impact player next year. He could also fall flat on his face. I just think with all the changes and what he went through it had to impact him.
Look at Jagr with us. Looked like he was slowing down towards the end and a few years later he's still playing and playing well. I think he had a lot of adjustments to make and he made them and look he's got another contract.
VL is not Jagr, but I think VL can bounce back. - funmaster18
I think it is more than a lack of skill or production. I think that he is not a good fit on our team and does not mesh well with our current mix of players. |

Krug is the best case scenario... how about all the other situations where kids were thrown in too soon and took years to recover (or never recovered)?
Is it possible that Ghost could step in right away and be as terrific as Krug? Sure. But is it likely? No.
You can't dismiss the bulk of the examples and just hitch your wagon to an outlier and expect everything to turn out ok. We complain incessantly about the Flyers futility when it comes to drafting/developing dmen, and finally when it looks like we've got a good one, fans don't have the patience not to Torey Krug him right away. - Tomahawk
Kids kids kids. Ghost is 21 yoa. Should we have kept Coots in the A his rookie year because clearly he was undersized and still growing into his body at 18 yoa? No they brought him up. Ghost is more the exception than the rule at this point IMO. He has that unique skill set already. There are certain things he can do that will help the team now.
If they feel he needs a full year in the A then fine, I'm just saying....I wouldnt be surprised if hes ready before the new year. From everything I've seen and read, not sure if that qualifies as rushing in this case, he's 21 yoa. |

The problem with this scenario is if he DOES make the team AT FIRST and then quickly FALTERS, you can send him back down to refine his game but it leaves a huge hole on your NHL roster.
Unless your insinuating he's our 6th or 7th dman, which I'm okay with if we have the proper depth to be sending him up and down.
If you haven't realized by now, this scenarios filled with a lot of "what if's"?
"What if" Alt or Lauridesen make the team? Then what? |

21 years old isn't poop, no offense. You're making it sound like its something it's not. He could be 23 years old. It doesn't directly correlate to NHL readiness.
Believe me, I feel you. I'm in the crowd that "wouldn't be surprised if he made the team out of camp", but were all doing a lot of assuming right now. Were also getting to the point of repetitiveness and have talked Ghost to death now. |

I could be. But i am not sending him down if he is ready to play. I am not against sending him down if I see he struggles in preseason or camp. I want him on the team if he can play. |

Kris Russell was a stud coming out of junior, an offensive dynamo, skating second to none. He got chewed up and spit out when Columbus rushed him in... it's only this past season, on his third team, that he's solidified his grasp on a top-4 role. |

If the Flyers want to become more mobile on the blue line and quicker overall, then there should be no reason why Ghost shouldn't start in the NHL. I'm sick and tired of seeing young players on their ELC making a difference on other NHL teams while the Flyers still put out an aging Timonen, Grossmann, and Pavel Kubina. |

I understand the "what ifs". I am just against sending him down if he shows he is ready. I would have him as a 6th d guy. He would be a good compliment to L. Schenn. I would love Alt to make the team. I see Lauridesen as more of a 7 d guy who can fill in for injury |

Flyers are pretty freakin terrible 5V5 and in the d-zone, too.
And the level of hockey in Canadian junior is much higher than the NCAA. |

Completely agree. I am ok with Kimmo walking and spreading his minutes elsewhere. So Ghost shows he is ready. Allowing him to play on the ELC then allows for the Flyers to upgrade other areas like wing and better 4th line |

Stopped reading because I'd prefer a former 100 point, generational talent who can clearly still produce in a top-9 role over a paltry top-9 power-forward winger who can't stay on his skates for an entire shift?
When both are basically signed to the same contract? Gotcha. - mochoson
Vinny's 100 point season is irrelevant at this point.
Hartnell has his faults, but he was +11 this season, tied for first. Vinny was dead last on the team at -16. |
