Hey, at least there's a positive about all this talk about Ghost:
Since a segment of people want him on the Flyers on Day 1, those people won't complain if he plays poorly or blame the Flyers for rushing him if he does
So. No one's gonna blame the Flyers for whatever happens with Ghost that first season on the roster, because everybody's happy he's going to be on it...right? |

Just you wait, once Morin is a bit more physically mature, and they perfect that brain swapping technology... |

Kris Russell was a stud coming out of junior, an offensive dynamo, skating second to none. He got chewed up and spit out when Columbus rushed him in... it's only this past season, on his third team, that he's solidified his grasp on a top-4 role. - Tomahawk
He was under Hitch I believe during his Columbus and St. Louis years. Prob not the best coach for a young dman. We all remember how pitkanen got chewed up and spit out too |

That's possible. But who's to say that mix doesn't change this offseason? - funmaster18
If it changes that means they are trading a young quality player to make an aging "superstar" fit on this team. That is the exact opposite direction the team needs to be taking. |

3 years from now Morin/Ghost will hopefully be our first pair in the making.

Its fun speculating how ready he is. We all have different views. For me he will be on my capgeek 1.0 roster |

Good comparison.
Ideally Alt would be good enough to make the team out of camp and Ghost can play with Hagg in Allentown until at least sometime in 2015. |

No. It doesn't mean that. They could trade a young player for an up and coming stud defenseman, allowing them to get another player that fits with VL. |

If they can pull that off, legitimately...they just might be in business for a really big trophy that hasn't been around for a while |

Now, lets be clear, I am in no way saying they WILL be our first pair in three years. But it would be nice to have them develop as a pair from the get go. I think they could be perfect compliments for each other.

I won't complain. I would rather take Ghosts warts then another year of failed keep ins and slow recovery of Timmonen. I like kimmo but it is time to transition on the back end. They have enough vets on the d to help. |

Maybe just a brain data transfer (plus some kind of loopy soul swapping ritual)? |
|
|

Trading LeCavalier is going to be difficult because of his play this year, his salary and terms, and the NMC. If they Flyers make him so unhappy on the fourth line, he could waive his NMC but the Flyers make have to do an Upshall-esque deal to include a draft pick to avoid eating salary.
While I think it would be a good thing for Ghost to start in the AHL, I really think he starts the year on the team and wouldn't be shocked if he's paired with Luke Schenn.

This is literally the logic behind picking Morin (Snider refers to him as "the perfect vessel") (e4) |

No, I hear you -- we all have to have the belief that is what will happen.
We can't afford to not have Morin make it. You can't just blow first-round picks on positions of need. He has to make it -- I don't drop the "Pronger comparisons" on any player, but my gosh, at some point, the Flyers HAVE to draft/develop a legitimate, first-pairing defenseman, on their own
The NHL is turning into a league where you are hard-pressed to win if you don't, because you won't have one

Players are more mature in college then playing againts 16,17,18 in junior for the most part. - J35Bacher
Yeah, Schultz and Gardiner look like real polished two-way mature players... practically turn-key. |

The NCAA is considered a tougher league than the canadian junior leagues... The difference between 21 year olds and 16 years is too huge to say differently. |

It's amazing how everyone points to Detroit and their patience with players and praise that method, but when we get a guy with promise, he needs to be in the lineup yesterday. - tangent_man
Yup, lets throw our rookie 172 lbs dman to the wolves, great idea! |

15-yo Connor McDavid would have won the Hobey Baker as a Doogie Howser freshman blindfolded and with his skates tied together. |

Yeah there are a few superstars obviously. But its about the generic player in the league. Not the 1 big superstar. |
