Draft is in Philly this year. Homer comes out..."I'd like to make a trade...I'm trading myself for Hextall and a 1st rounder" Crowd goes wild, Hextall comes out with a goalie stick and slashes Ray Shero across the face.
- feelingkettle

nah i think hextall would find chellios in the crowd and tackle him

I think there's some concern, with the GM openings out there, that they could potentially lose Hexy. Might as well bump Homer up the ladder and give Hexy the GM title, even if the responsibilities remain essentially the same.

And hey, it could very easily go down like that -- I wouldn't be stunned if it went down like you just said

For whatever reason, I think Homer would want to be the one to pull the trigger on something involving the kids, if it had to be done -- with Hextall consulting, of course -- so that way, if it goes sour, he owns it and not the new guy

keep us updated

will they stay with the policy of best player available?

even if the guy projects to be another 2 way, third line center, I guess that is the best way to go

personally I would love them to look for speed/skill over size but what do I know

Here is my list I just did, it's who I think could be available & who I'd look at when they select 17th (click on it to expand)

So Downie is close to being deaf. Had no idea McCrossin was an audiologist.

I thought he always had a problem with one ear. Is there some breaking story that I missed?

"We've been focusing in the last two years on drafting young defensemen. We've got some in the hopper; when they're going to be ready, I don't know. I like to call him "got-to-be-here," however you pronounce it... but he's got to be here. I think this kid has tremendous potential. Who knows. Young defensemen are doing wonderful things all over the league. You saw what happened in Montreal last night with P.K. Subban. There's a lot of young defensemen doing wonderful things in this league... there's no reason for us to think that this kid can't come in and help us. To be a plus-7 in a championship game when there's seven goals scored and four against is pretty amazing."

Uh, calm down Ed.

I really hate that Ehlers has jumped way ahead of our window to grab him.

Me too, it's possible he's top 5 or 7 now. I have 19 names on my list, can't really settle on one, it's still a solid draft but just wide open after the top 7 or so picks.

Is that true? I read he's having surgery to improve his hearing.

OK.

If there is a LW available at 17 realistically, who would you want it to be?

Yeah, I guess PLind needed some newer material than the Sharp deal and finally got to the 2005 Draft Recap.

Fiala looks pretty terrific... crazy numbers for a 17-yo in the SHL.

I remember years ago one of the cronies on DNL was making fun of Downie's voice on air after they cut back from a locker room interview. He was forced to apologize when they came back from commercial. Super awkward.
