no, throw him onto the fire, watch him burn and become the target of philly media as a failure
- watsonnostaw

got to be here

Seriously the kid has a chance at making the roster. And if he does I dont think it will be the classic case of the rushing. It will be because hes ready.

Nobody is saying to heap all kinds of expectations on him. He comes up hes the #6. 14 mins a night with 2nd unit PP time.

He might as well have scored 10 goals each game the way people talk about him on this board.

I will go on a three-state killing spree when the media pushes and pushes and pushes for the kid to be here out of training camp, then as soon as he struggles in the NHL, one of them starts windbagging about how the Flyers never develop any defensemen and about their legendary impatience, and how now the kid's confidence is fragile because he's playing against men for the first time

I defy anyone to come on here and say that won't happen

It sure is going to be another interesting off season. If they want a #1 Dman it's going to cost.

So "Ghost" has been adopted as the nickname for Gostibehere? I like where Snider called him "GotToBeHere" in his interview with Tim yesterday.

Could be GTBH. Although Ghost is pretty good too.

How do you know he is ready? Is it from his 0 games in the NHL or 2 games in the AHL? He has never truly played pro hockey. How can you think that he can make an NHL roster? Yes he played well at Union, but he should be given time so he can actually be ready.

I would be decently okay with the situation you presented if we had a number 1 d man. Instead since dont have one we have to have 3 pairs of top 4 guys. He will get exposed.

Okay. I know you want Gost in the lineup but will it really kill you to wait half an NHL season or the whole one so he can continue his development? And what will you say about him if he cannot handle the NHL? Youll call him a bust.
- FrmRusiaWifGlov

I'm not opposed to it. I just would be surprised if he needed a full year in the AHL. And I certainly wouldnt leave him down there just because thats what your supposed to do. If the kid in camp and preseason is proving the he deserves to be on the club, based on his play ahead of lets say Gus or Alt, I would hope they keep him

I dont. I get the feeling that the flyers think hes very close to being ready. From comments by the GM and owner, pretty important people no?
Holmgren called him a freaking ferrari. You can laugh at it, I guess we will all see come camp time.

Ghost is going to need at least the fall and winter to bulk up alone imo.

When folks get a chance, and if interested, Panaccio's posted the transcript of Ed Snider's media availability.

It's good reading; he said some interesting things -- not interesting "bad or stupid," but interesting overall

Of course if the kid proves it in the AHL then he should be given a chance, but I dont think he is good enough to be able to hold down a spot in the NHL. I would rather him get 20 minutes a night in the AHL then 12 here

I will laugh at it. Yes they think he is almost ready. But when have those two ever rushed a Dman before? No we wont see in camp time. We will see after the season is over how he held up.

Actually a pretty nice write up from Timmy with many points fans like us are interested in. Biggest things I took away

-Holmgren stressed the Flyers would take a long look at Ghost and Hagg in camp, no mention of Alt or Lauridsen.

-Holmgren volunteered there has been no negotiations with B Schenns camp since last summer

-Holmgren related hes not so much dissappointed in Vinny as he is for Vinny. Seems like the back injury was indeed an issue all year. Dont know whats going on there.
