That is why I think he should start with Flyers if he earns it in camp. Plus with him playing on an ELC they can use money elsewhere.

On a different note. I saw a blog about the Panthers selling the first pick. Panther want young but experienced players. Could a package of:

To Florida:
B.Schenn
L.Schenn
Read
1st 2014

To Philly:
1st 2014
Dan Ellis

Then we can draft Ekbald and really kick start the change on D

You want to trade 3 young roster players to move up 16 spots?

People seem to think VL and Schenn are the problem together. In reality, VL played poorly with everyone. If the team goes into next year with VL as their #2C, they will have the exact same problems they had this year.
- PhillySportsGuy

I don't disagree with what you just wrote. The problem is that if Vinny doesn't want to go -- he got a no-move, IIRC -- then that makes it trickier, because other teams saw what we all did. No one's going to want to do the Flyers any favors.

The Flyers might have to find two Top 6 wingers to try to complement him and Giroux better, because one thing you might have to do is try Voracek with him, which they haven't done yet -- and yeah, that's not going to be easy, either.

I wish it was as simple as saying "the fit isn't there, we're going to trade you." But this deal is gonna be...more difficult than that.

The major exception being that Krug went to a stacked Boston team, which plays the best two-way hockey of any team in the league.

So fellas, I don't know if you remember, but long story short, there's a really sweet professor here that everyone loves and she's leaving because the school won't give her a full time position, much to her dismay. Me and my friend started an online petition and got like 200 people to sign it to keep her here. The "process" is now up to the presidential level- the last rung on the ladder! So she might be staying after all!

We went and drank with her after her final yesterday. Literally an hour after the exam. Yes, I can say I drank with my molec professor. If she's back next year, our class is gonna take her to old city

If he's the one who goes, I think we're going to have to accept a few things:

1. The Flyers are getting nothing of value in return
2. The Flyers might have to eat a bad contract in return, or pay part of his salary
3. The Flyers might have to send a pick or prospect in order for a team to take him

That's all if he's the one who goes -- that's why it's not a slam-dunk that it will be him. The Flyers might have to try to find a way to make it work with Lecavalier, for at least one more year.

Not saying that's what I think they should or shouldn't do.

- AllInForFlyers

Vinny is also going to have to agree to go. But I dont think that will be an issue.

Vinny should go to Dallas. They need a 2C, and he needs to play 2C.

I don't think VL wants to spend the rest of his career on the 4th line. He signed here thinking the team would be coached by Lavi. He seemed to like the up tempo game Lavi preached. He even mentioned that as a reason for signing here. He will be very difficult o trade, but I think the team needs to do everything it can to get rid of his contract. Even if it means giving up a pick with him.

If Holmgren gets fired, and catches on elsewhere, Hextall can trade VL to him.

Vinny is this summer's Meszaros... everybody will be posting CapGeek rosters where the Flyers "dump him for picks" to make the numbers work.

When in fact, he's going to be harder to get rid of than a raging case of herpes.

No matter how similar players are, you can't assume one will have the same development cycle.

I think it's easier to fit a player like Krug on the Bruins because they're a really good two-way team. They don't leave their defenseman hanging out to dry. The Flyers are not a good defensive team. A guy like Ghost may have his flaws exploited quite a bit.

We shall see. Did someone mention that Berube hinted that his conditioning wasnt up to par?

That would be understandable to a degree with the type of injury he had. Back problems can pretty much screw up anything.

I really believe that B Schenn will be the one to go. I think he will bring the better return in order to fill some of the holes this team needs.

Hopefully a healthy VLC returns next season. Pain free and in shape. IMO we still need some veterans on this team/

I think everyone should temper expectations a bit though. If he doesn't come in and score 40 points next season or in 2015-16, all is not lost.

To draft Ekbald yes. We always talk about having too many centers. We move one center and Couturier moves to 2nd line center and Laughton moves to 3rd line shutdown center. Raffl has proven to be good on both ends and can also play on that 3rd line replacing read. I want a better fourth line so maybe Hall walks and we sign someone like Brian Boyle or Dominic Moore.

Can go with something liek this then
hartnell - g - Voracek
Simmonds- Couturier - Vinny?
Raffl - Laughton - Akeson(shown he can do it and has to get a chance now)
Rinaldo - Moore?/Hall - Boyle

Kimmo walks sois some combination of these 7

Again, I do not disagree with what you just wrote. I wanted Lecavalier to fit here, to work. And I do still think he can play a role in the NHL.

The problem is that we do not have the wingers on the NHL roster to play with him. I think Voracek probably could. Maybe. Because of how he drives possession and carries the puck.

Could the Flyers acquire those kinds of wingers? Maybe. Probably. But at some point, cap space, roster slots and need start to factor in, and catering to a mid-30s player...might not be what you want to do.

I just don't think B Schenn brings back the player people will want. He has less value than JVR did and JVR brought back Luke Schenn.

VL was already deteriorating before signing with the Flyers. I don't see him being much better next season. Serious back injuries at his age don't just heal perfectly .

If a team wants him, it will definitely be a Canadian team. No doubt about it.
