VL was already deteriorating before signing with the Flyers. I don't see him being much better next season. Serious back injuries at his age don't just heal perfectly . - PhillySportsGuy
He's a lot closer in situation to Simon Gagne than Brad Richards, that's for sure. |

Again, I do not disagree with what you just wrote. I wanted Lecavalier to fit here, to work. And I do still think he can play a role in the NHL.
The problem is that we do not have the wingers on the NHL roster to play with him. I think Voracek probably could. Maybe. Because of how he drives possession and carries the puck.
Could the Flyers acquire those kinds of wingers? Maybe. Probably. But at some point, cap space, roster slots and need start to factor in, and catering to a mid-30s player...might not be what you want to do. - AllInForFlyers
Exactly. It's better for the team to get rid of him rather than cater to him. Trade Schenn then sign wingers who will drive possession, play well defensively and add speed? That seems like a lot for a guy who is supposed to be a #2C. |

Flyers somehow trade Vinny for a pick, then sign a bought out Brad Richards for five years, $22.5 million. Richards plays pretty well for two months then gets a severe back injury. |

Nik Khabibulin and Dan Boyle, too. Then MSL in summer 2015-16.
Then we'll take a time machine back 10 years and win the Stanley Cup for sure. |

No matter how similar players are, you can't assume one will have the same development cycle.
I think it's easier to fit a player like Krug on the Bruins because they're a really good two-way team. They don't leave their defenseman hanging out to dry. The Flyers are not a good defensive team. A guy like Ghost may have his flaws exploited quite a bit. - PhillySportsGuy
The Flyers have been a much better two way team under Berube. If they make the right moves this summer they can be even better. Im not sold on Berube but I think a young defenseman like Ghost will have a much better opportunity to swim under Berube than Lava. I think its safe to say the skills are quite similar b/w Krug and Ghost. And by every account I've read Ghost has a good head on his shoulders and is a diligent hard worker. He needs to gain some weight, but nobody in the organization is counting on him becoming a crease clearer or wall stapler. What did Holmer say "Dont want to load down your ferrari" Theyre not concerned with his weight.

To draft Ekbald yes. We always talk about having too many centers. We move one center and Couturier moves to 2nd line center and Laughton moves to 3rd line shutdown center. Raffl has proven to be good on both ends and can also play on that 3rd line replacing read. I want a better fourth line so maybe Hall walks and we sign someone like Brian Boyle or Dominic Moore.
Can go with something liek this then
hartnell - g - Voracek
Simmonds- Couturier - Vinny?
Raffl - Laughton - Akeson(shown he can do it and has to get a chance now)
Rinaldo - Moore?/Hall - Boyle
Kimmo walks sois some combination of these 7
Coburn
Grossmann
Streit
AMAC
Ekbald
Ghost
Alt - J35Bacher
And they coast into the season with like 15mil in cap space? |

So fellas, I don't know if you remember, but long story short, there's a really sweet professor here that everyone loves and she's leaving because the school won't give her a full time position, much to her dismay. Me and my friend started an online petition and got like 200 people to sign it to keep her here. The "process" is now up to the presidential level- the last rung on the ladder! So she might be staying after all!
We went and drank with her after her final yesterday. Literally an hour after the exam. Yes, I can say I drank with my molec professor. If she's back next year, our class is gonna take her to old city - Giroux_Is_God
If you guys are looking for something to do in the area, I might be able to offer a few suggestions. I know that area fairly well.

In the season of 17-18 it will be gone.
Edit: 3 more seasons. - FlyersSteve118
Likely just one in reality. The last 2 years of the deal prongers actually salary is only $550k and insurance would be paying 70% of it. At that point his cap hit of 4.925 million becomes very attractive to a team that struggles to reach the cap floor. |

Jokinen could be a fit. Vrbata's only played the right side, so I'm not sure where he'd go.
I'd absolutely have interest in Pouliot and Kulemin for the third line, if they wanted to come
Hemsky is the same as Vrbata; while he's played on the left side before, it wasn't a good fit.
The thing about Hemsky is this: He's the type of player who could probably play with Lecavalier

As a smaller defenseman, he needs to learn how to avoid taking big hits. The AHL will give him the opportunity to make a gradual transition.
If he goes to the NHL and hasn't learned this yet, he could get injured and delay his growth even more.
Didn't Laughton injure Ghost just last year with a big hit at practice? |

Kulemin and Pouliot are the names that jump out to me... in the right price range and they could play anywhere in the top-9.
Setoguchi might be worth a reclamation if they plan on moving one of their current RW'ers.
Vrbata, Gaborik and Michalek are too expensive. The rest are too old. |

I think that either L. Schenn or Grossmann is going to have to go in the off season in order to make room for some signings. The flyers are going to want to get a top line forward and the top defender they need. I think Lecavalier and Grossmann go in the off season and I don't think Timonen resigns. He looked worn down in the playoffs. - FlyersSteve118
Who will take Vinni with his money and the way he showed up in playoffs? Flyers cannot get rid of him - it is Holmgren mistake.... |

I really don't think that trading a former #1 pick for practically nothing is going to be all that difficult, even with his cap hit. |

The LTIR/cap hit isn't the only problem, though. What about all the ripple effects of the deal and the subsequent moves they had to make to replace him? Not to even consider the players/picks that Anaheim got in the deal, how they'll fare. |

The thing is, will the NHL allow such a deal that is an obvious cap circumvention to happen?
Personally I doubt it. But stranger things have happened.
