Stopped reading because I'd prefer a former 100 point, generational talent who can clearly still produce in a top-9 role over a paltry top-9 power-forward winger who can't stay on his skates for an entire shift?

When both are basically signed to the same contract? Gotcha.

Hartnell is a top line player for the money.
Vinny is a fourth line player for the money.

Sucks the flyers are out, but after some reflection, not that surprising. Rangers played a better team game 5 on 5. To me that's basic hockey and something this team needs to get much better at if they are to go anywhere.

I still like the young core, LOVE MASON, and I think Berube earned another year as coach, even though I disagreed with him at times. Some changes to the lineup are needed and that will be interesting to watch. For the first time in a while I'm excited about multiple flyers prospects.

I heard the quote on the radio. He did put emphasis on 'extremely'
- PhillySportsGuy

Is he implying he didn't come in this year in great shape or speaking to the damage his body went through this season?

Is that all you got No I dont want to ruin him like Sbisa.

Flyers played him when he was 18 yoa.

I simply laid out the career path Krug has taken to the NHL since coming out of college as undersized but elite offense oriented blueliner.

That mess of an organization the bruins decided to throw him right into the fire in the spring of 2012 when he signed.

The lockout came and he got a bunch of AHL games in. He suffered through a high ankle sprain that hampered him, but got healthy and lit it up in the playoffs when he was called up.

I think he is further along than more people give him credit for. Counting his maturity level (from all the reports) and skill set level.

Or, he can be allowed to make mistakes and let his game grow the right way playing 18-20 minutes every single game in the AHL. This kid should NOT start the year in Philly; this shouldn't even be up for debate.
- mochoson

Every player develops differently. If he is ready to play in the NHL then he needs to be in the NHL. Guys are coming into the NHL younger and Younger. Also he is not a 18 year old. He is 21. If he demonstrates the skills to play at that level then he needs to be on the roster. Your not being true to your franchise if you play a guy in the minors because your scared of mistakes he might make. If him being on the roster brings more pros than cons he needs to play. Don't you think Tampa would have rather kept Drouin. Could have really used him. But they thought they weren't going to make the playoffs this year and when they did and then traded St. Louis they lost a lot of offense which he could have provided.

Agree 100%
The kid needs to adjust to the pace of the pro game and get stronger. A full year in the AHL is best for his development.

It's amazing how everyone points to Detroit and their patience with players and praise that method, but when we get a guy with promise, he needs to be in the lineup yesterday.

So they moved him to the 4th line because he was making the rest of the team look bad?

I think everyone should temper expectations a bit though. If he doesn't come in and score 40 points next season or in 2015-16, all is not lost.
- PhillySportsGuy

I want him in with the Phantoms until hes ready. If its 1/4, half or the full season. Alot can happen between now anf training camp, but the Flyers have shown they wont hesitate to keep a young player with the club if they deem him ready. I just hope the exercise patience and dont give in to trial by fire. I think Homer and crew have handled the young kids better in this regard.

It doesn't matter what you think. It matters what actually happened.

Vinny failed in all opportunities as a top 9 player and was put on the fourth line where he was STILL a minus player.

Hartnell has been a positive player all season long, driving possession and creating scoring chances. At our worst times he has been our best player, and at the best times, he made a few mistakes, but he was never a horrible player.

So what it comes down to is..

4.75mil for a 1st/2nd line LW
or
4.5mil for a 4th line C

It's not about what's good for the player or team, it's about taking the opposite stance from the flyers decisions with their youth. Come on now.

Not me...I wouldn't have Ghost on the roster next year until midseason at the earliest. And he'd have to be killing it, even then.

He needs to play against men for at least 40 games but not have his mistakes be something that could cost people their jobs -- and he will make mistakes that wind up in the net, because that is just the nature of the beast

Bolded is the difference between how you feel and how I feel. Underlined statement is entirely opinionated and based off no factual evidence.

Ghost could very well be in the NHL at some point next year. He needs to start the year in the AHL, however.

I think they sent him down because they wanted him to put on strength. I dont think they regretted the decision. The reason they lost so badly in the playoffs is because Bishop got injured. Thats a totally different series if Bishop plays.

Yeah. I agree with you. If Ghost is dominating the AHL then he's probably ready. If he's just another guy, then they need to give him more time.
