Let's be honest. The only way Babcock comes here is if he doesn't re-up in Detroit and MLSE does what they do best. It's all about the $. Does Babcock have this burning desire to take a team that would make him a god if they were to consistently play well? Does he have the patience to go through with it? Maybe Shanaban and him have a repoire? I don't know. It's a nice dream to have, but it's just that. Not unlike when Stamkos comes here in 2015 because MLSE will do what they do best with him.

What does Stamkos have to do with it? Hiring a coach is much easier than signing a franchise player who RFA.

AGREED. Especially when the coach's contract expires, it's not uncommon for a coach to move on or a GM to look elsewhere. Not the same with an RFA with someone like Stamkos. Stevie Y will move heaven & hell to get him signed well in advance.
