Probably a better measure would be the PP% for the top-unit with Kimmo, and with Streit, but I'm way too lazy to assemble that. - Tomahawk
Too many variables. And it's the same as looking at blocked shot percentage. Just one stat out of many. Which one do you want to pick to make a case?

At his age and cap hit? No. You can't tailor a scoring line around a player who doesn't drive possession and make his linemates better.
Again: That doesn't mean he can't play. But seriously -- at some point, you have to acknowledge what the player is or isn't, and if what he isn't able to do outweighs what he can do.
That's what all aging players face. - AllInForFlyers
I agree, and I believe Homer/Hexy/Berube will agree in the current system. |

Kimmo is also a much better passer and keeping the puck in the offensive zone. - PhillySportsGuy
Much better passer? He doesnt do anything but play pitch and catch with Jake and G? Keeps the puck in? Kimmo doesnt even have the wheels that Streit has. Streit had more points than him this year, thats amazing given the amount of PP time Kimmo saw all year with the top unit |

You can't just look at it that way. The 2nd unit (when they can actually get setup) is run through VL and Streit. I bet each of them had a point on almost every ppg scored by the second unit.
The top unit is run through Giroux. - PhillySportsGuy
Sure you can. You don't think that Streit's PP point total would increase playing on the top unit with Giroux? Giroux could also get some more space, because team's would have to pay more attention to Streit's big shot. And Streit is just as good of a passer on the PP as Timonen is. Streit has the PP pedigree to back it up.

Streit has a much better chance of beating a goaltender from the point them Timonen does. Streit could take some off the shot, and just throw some of the weak shots at the net, similar to Timonen, and raise that percentage. But in my opinion, that is not what is needed. He's a much better threat from the point then Timonen is. Streit had more PP goals, and scored 15 PP points to Timonen's 20 PP points. While playing on the 2nd unit, and significantly less time.
Streit didn't drop the ball at all. He's a better PP point man then Timonen is at this point, and should've been on the top unit. How many ore PP points does Streit pick up playing on the top unit with Giroux? - MJL

Don't need an excuse. I look at Lecavalier without bias, and recognize the good and bad concerning him as a player, and his fit going forward. Rather then just ignoring some of the factors, and only seeing one side of it.

Giroux - Kimmo - Streit would have been the perfect umbrella setup, IMO. How many one-timers did Jake flub this year? Had to be two dozen or more. |

Not sure who said he was brought here to be Adam Hall, so where's that coming from? Nor did I say that he was complimentary. He was brought into to be a 2nd line center, and he can still be that, if he's healthy. And he can still produce offensively at a 2nd line center rate. - MJL
Playing center for the kind of minutes a second-line center should be playing requires more than just producing offensively -- can he backcheck effectively? Does he defend down low effectively? Is he winning faceoffs in all three zones?
I like Lecavalier as a person -- I thought he showed tremendous character this year.
But at the same time, this is a business. This is a sport based on production. Lecavalier might not score 50-60 points again. Does he do anything else well enough to justify being a second-line center, anymore?
That last question is a legitimate, honest-to-God, concern -- because this sport isn't all about goals, and we don't even know if he can do that anymore.
If he scores 20 and is on the ice for 35, that isn't helping.

His points would go up, but I don't think it would be the radical jump your thinking it would be. I think he'd have a few more than Kimmo.
Its impossible to determine if he would make the PP better without him getting a long look. THats why its useless to argue over right now.
Tbh, I would feel comfortable with either of them. Both offer different positive attributes. They're just a little different. Kimmo is more finesse and distributor. Streit is more powerful and able to beat goalies one on one with his shot. |

Why would I have a bias? He didn't kick my dog. He's a Flyer. I would want him to do well.
I'm man enough to admit when Im wrong about a signing. I was wrong about Streit. I thought he would be a huge liability on defense. He wasn't a shutdown defenseman, but he definitely pulled his weight when you consider his offensive contributions. |

I'm guessing someone from the Smith-Pelley-Bonino-Etem Line
Edit: This game has Kings win written all over it though with the way Quick has bailed them out time after time. |
