Ryan, is there a website that shows who the Ranger's top line was matched up against during the game? Just curious. - cory7321

Goc has been good since he returned. He helped to stabilize that third line. He, Bennett and Sutter have been good together. Goc has a little more edge than I originally thought.
Carcillo still has a severe case of Snappy Neck Syndrome. - Ben37
Have been saying this for a while. Really liked the pickup when it was made. I remember seeing him play a few times, but didn't really notice he had a physical edge to him. To me, he is an easy resign. Third line should be set next year ... Gibbons, Sutter and any combo of Stempy or Goc. |

I thought Beau looked good with the puck last night, just didn't have the skill around him needed to complete some plays, and he passed up a couple opportunities to shoot. Don't like the idea of switching things up after a game like that but i also wouldn't mind if he replaced Stempy on that line for shifts when Geno isn't there. I think he would contribute. |

I agree. Beau played a very good game. Just wish he had someone on his line that could have helped him a little bit more offensively. However, the pressure (even if it didn't add up to anything tangible) of his line was essential to the team success. Getting O-zone pressure time out of those bottom-6 makes a huge difference. |

If the Rangers PP wasn't so terrible, last night has a different outcome. That 1st was pretty brutal.
I think the series rides on tonight. If the Rangers can bounce back and take tonight, they have a good shot. IF not it might be a short series. There should be more back to back playoff hockey games btw.
And Crosby does not look hurt anymore. |

The way I look at it, that kind of balanced out the fact that the Pens probably should have won game 1 in regulation. |

Letang is playing to his full potential and let's not forget he is completely rested having missed so many games. Gibbons is awesome and a HUGE upgrade over Glass. I was worried about Crosby until last night, but if he plays like that who cares if he scores as long as we win. Only weak links I can see are Scuds and Adams. Go Pens ! Let's step on their throat with a win tonite ! |

As an agitator, my game also relies on sporting an attitude to draw other posters into taking penalties. It's a fine line to walk.

The last night was awesome, but it also ticked me off big time. If they played ten more minutes on friday, they have a 2-0 lead going into New York. It just baffles me that they came out so flat on friday.
Oh well, this team has what it takes talent wise. Their depth is suddenly a strength. The have a very flexible, pliable line-up.
Goc and Gibbons had a very strong pk flow last night and an even stronger 5-5 game. Goc is also significantly more physical than I ever thought he was. Someone needs to pay him so he doesn't leave. |

I thought Adams played a good game. That 4th line had a good amount of O-Zone time, which is rare for a Penguins 4th line. |

If Adams is together with guys like Vitale and Gibbons, he's perfectly serviceable for what he brings to the table. He just needs to be with other guys that have some wheels to carry the puck and do puck retrieval....ie not a boat anchor with zero puck skills like Glass. I was glad to see HCDB made the right call and dressed Gibbons last night. Bylsma seems to be maturing as a coach and letting go of some of his stubborness when things aren't working...instead he's making adjustments and sticking with what does work. Still a long way to go, but I have a feeling that the folks that don't care for him are going to be disappointed in the offseason. |

All true, thanks Gunner. Lets not forget the lack of mistakes, at least the turnovers they committed(8) were balanced by takeaways(7). Less turnovers would be better but tenacity on the Ranger player even after the turnover was committed limited shots and of course goals. MAF was excellent, team defense was outright crazy solid. They won 80% of the puck battles, I swear. - powerhouse

The entire league has a case of the dives. Kunitz has been embellishing a lot lately as well. Fans shouldn't really complain about it because every single team does it. - Grinder47
I just find it funny. Everytime someone make supper body contact with him, his head flies back like he's been sniped. Look at when Bennett gave him a shot. He's done it three times in two games so far. |

In fairness, the Pens top PP unit looked equally inept so far this series. |

-I thought the Pens D did an excellent job of not easily surrendering the blue line, Niskanen especially.

I actually thought they looked pretty good last night. They got some great open looks on the second one but couldn't cash in (IIRC, Niskanen missed the net twice), and got a goal on the 3rd. |

Gibby has won me over. I thought he was a nice player to play occasionally but he's a good player and has earned his spot. Kudos to Shero for ignoring us all and making smart trades this year. Goc and stempy are very underrated pic ups. I hope we resign both but goc especially. I'm not sure this is a cup team due to inconsistencies and mental laps but they sure looked like they could play with anyone last night. Sid was great but he needs to score, for me selfishly so I don't have to listen to all the Richard bags comparing him to Barry bonds |

Let me rephrase my initial comment: our TOP PP unit looks equally inept thus far this series.
*edit* apparently I did say top PP unit in my initial comment. I stand by it.
The 2nd unit has looked pretty good.
But the Top unit has looked completely out of sync. They can't win the opening faceoff & essentially have had to waste the first 20 seconds of every PP they've had establishing zone presence. And then their passes have been pretty off. They had about 15 seconds of good possession time but they've had to chase pucks far too much for having the man advantage. They're forcing passes and not getting much personnel movement (and in turn, puck movement) to open up shooting lanes. The 2nd unit has done this significantly better. But the talent drop off from the 1st to 2nd unit is rather obvious too, which partially negates the improvement in tactics. |

Agree with Gibbons. As long as he's playing in the bottom 6 and not even sniffing top-6 time. He's effective in his role.
As for the deadline pickups, I agree on Goc. I think they should make an offer to Stemp, but I think they can upgrade him on the open market for about the same price. Maybe someone with a little more size, since he's still below 6', without sacrificing speed. 6'2" at about 210/220 with that speed, even with the ho-hum hands would be a little nicer on that line. |

I think we need to play a disciplined road game tonight. If we spot them three early power plays tonight, the odds are they are going to cash in. As much as the Rags power play sucks it will get a goal eventually. I would like to see us come out and grind them. If we can keep it 5 vs 5 for the most part and score 1 on the power play, I like our chances. If we can get consistent solid efforts like last night, I like the Pens in 6. |

You mean just the ones that wanted Kesler. A lot of people liked the deals that were made at the time even if they weren't the blockbuster types that some hoped for. |
