There's good & bad apples in every bunch, right? Been busy all day, I take it there was a troll fest at some point? I don't have neither the time, nor the inclination to go & back check for the tomfoolery. - B2B76
Yeah this is my first day here in a very long time and didn't bother going back to read anything. Just typical hockey stuff... winning fans upset losing fans or something. |

Stop it. If you came by here regularly you would see MOSTLY real good, knowledgeable hockey fans. This is the playoffs & your team has just stuffed us 2 nights in a row, people are a little rattled. - B2B76
I'm actually talking about the Penguins fans who tend to just say "Fleury sucks" without ever once giving thought to how he magically loses his ability to goaltend come April.
Apparently, the concept of team defense is lost on a large portion of them, and they expect Fleury to somehow keep the puck out of the net when nobody in front of him is giving him the least bit of support whatsoever. When I talk about Fleury's woes being the result of this lackadaisical approach to team defense, I'm told I'm wrong.
It's a pleasant surprise to visit this thread and see reasonable people from both teams' fanbases understand this most basic concept of hockey that doesn't seem prevalent to a number of other 'fans'. It isn't a detraction on Rangers fans. |

I see your Wade Redden, and raise you Cristobal Huet
We couldnt even find a spot for him in North America, we had to bury him in Europe while under full contract - FourFeathers773
It had little to no effect in the progress of the Chicago Blackhawks though.
They continue to get it done despite some dicey contracts handed out in the last five or six seasons. |

The save he made on Zuccarello at the end of the 1st period was six bells. That shot goes in we may have had a totally different result.

The cool thing about this era, with the websites and stuff, is that we can get unbiased opinions from the other teams fan base. That's why I pop in. Its a heck of a lot better than reading what the rwporters throw out there. |

Gotcha. I enjoy actual hockey conversation as opposed to Penguins suck, Rangers suck like 12 year olds arguing(like on any & all facebook comment pages).

The Drury and Gomez double signings, in 2007, was an unmitigated disaster until Sather spun Gomez into Ryan McDonagh.
Gaborik scored 40+ goals twice while here; despite never playing with a legitmate #1 center.
Nash, despite his best postseason Casper impression, has been a pretty effective goal scorer during both regular seasons here.
Richards was coming off of back to back point per game seasons in Dallas before he signed in NY.
Wade Redden was simply put the worst signing in the modern era for any team.
Sather has had a very checkered free agent signing history here but overall has made some really good trades as well. - MidnightMarauder
Sather has been better in the last 5 years, but his overall track record with the rangers is pretty terrible. He's the one constant during this cup drought. Im glad AV is here because, unlike our favorite cigar chewing chode, he is in touch with the modern NHL and can steer Sather in the right direction as far as trades and free agent signings. |

Some of us on here wax poetically about 1994 when we won the Cup & what it would have been like if we had websites & message boards like this where we could have communicated.
Idk though, I was 17 then & if I wasn't watching hockey I was usually blasting heavy metal through my ears back then...or chasing pu$$Y. |

Quick question. It's not letting me hit the quote button on the Perry .gif, but about that. How come when Perry squirts water in Carter's glove it's hilarious, but when Sid knocks Giroux's glove away when he goes to pick it up he's a female dog? Pretty sure the answer lies somewhere in the neighborhood of strong anti-sid bias. - schiefer466

Yeah. Maybe, MAYBE you can make some sort of case about a team full of NHL calibre hockey players that can make it into the playoffs does somehow "suck" if you're an extremely creative person who loves to argue, but by the second round, that should go out the window. Teams making it this far have merit. While they may be flawed in some way, they most certainly do not "suck".
And honestly, just saying "your team sucks" isn't a very creative nor fun argument anyhow. |

Can you imagine what this board would have been like after they lost Game 5 to the Devils and looked like a dead hockey team? For that matter, can you imagine what this board would have been like when they were down 2-0 in Game 6? Or when Zelupumkin tied it up with 7 second left in Game 7? Or, when they blew a 3-1 series lead in the finals? |

Did the Redden contract really hinder NYR at all once they buried him though?

Nah, just thought it was a huge save at a crucial time in the game. |

No, other than they ultimately had to use one of the two compliance buy-outs on Redden after the second lock-out, but that is a minimal adverse impact. |

Same age at the time. And what a series! That whole era seemed to be cooler for some reason. |

Game 6 against the Nucks would have been absurd. I go hypothetically on the over/under of 20 bans for that game. |

Damn those were the good ole days. Not a care in the world, partying like crazy, we were all invincible. Except the night i ended up in a pink holding cell. Now we are old. - mdw7413

I actually think it was. My brother had to do work at this particular police station a couple years later, and he said it was still pink. It made a lasting memory, and never happened again. |

This morning became a poopshow because of a few unpleasant stooges, last series was amazingly Civil even after the series ended and in both threads, I just happen to have a bit more respect for Flyers fans and this morning reminded me if that, excuse my behavior I'm still in a ripe mood and I doubt it's going away before tomorrow night so I apologize if I upset anyone's delicate sensibilities |

Thanks for carrying the blog. Was swamped all day and unfortunately sick as a dog right now, so likely going to bed as need to be in office tomorrow, why I am here in the UK. A few quick things:
- it's amazing how it took a few comments by the Penguins fans to rile up the crowd and end the defeatist attitude that had pervaded here the past two games. Granted, similar happened vs. Philly, but not to this extent.
- The scoring issues continue, obviously, and the bottom line is whats important.but if you don't think NY grossly outplayed Pitt last night, you are mistaken. And no that's not because I stayed up to three in the morning talking.
- One bad defensive play when Staal got caught flat footed and a bad pass at the end of the PP and two breakaways goals. If you ask Lundqvist, he will say he should have saved the Crosby one. Despite all the gloom and doom, and I get it as too many players not scoring at all, an effort like Monday on Wednesday and it will be 2-2.
- On the Staal hit. Clearly a penalty and one that should have been called. He did get him on the bottom of the helmet, so the neck didn't take the full blow. Ref blew the call, end stop. But please stop the holier than thou attitude seeing what Pitt has done that wasn't called, including slashes by Sid etc. Ref blew it, we agree on that, let's not make it more than that. As Glen wrote many, many, many pages ago, it looked he tried to get him on the back, Sid ducked a bit and he got him by the neck. Regardless if where he got him, it should have been call, but please don't make Staal out to be the scourge of the earth now.
- Richards can't be on the point of the PP. You have seen me write that over and over and it's just as true now, maybe more so, than when I first wrote it. Again, bad pass by Zucc but Richards has no shot to catch up with any forward and he hasn't been the trigger we need. Leave Diaz in as he was very good on the PP, getting shots on net. Maybe play for Moore for Klein.
- McD and G loom like a shell of themselves. Maybe it is fatigue or injury, but whatever it is, we need the old Block Ness Twins back.
- Also, enough with the Fleury bashing. Yes, he has his warts, but he also is left out to dry by his D. He has a solid EVSV% coming into the series and played very well! matching Hank step for step. Granted, he was helped by two posts and a crossbar, but so was Hank in Game 1. Keep getting pressure on him, hopefully, he or the D cracks.
- I would love Kreider to be back, as NY needs his size in trout. If it was 2-1, he would sit. Down 2-1, if he is close to being ready, and much as I hate rushing him, it's a must win, you have no choice.
- I eminently know it's frustrating being a Rangers fan. I am tired of saying it builds character, screw that, I want to win. But regardless of what happens, I will never, ever turn on being a Rangers fan, win or lose. It's in my blood. It's why I blog here daily (ok, almost daily, but you get the point). It's why you keep ending and commenting, beyond it being cathartic. You bleed blue, plain and simple. Remember that the next time you want to throw in the towel and walk away.
Night all
