Thoughts on a Lecavalier for Stalberg trade? - Feanor

Checked the waiver criteria again and am almost 100 percent positive that Akeson would be subject to waivers next season if the Flyers want to return him to the AHL.
1) For waiver calculation purposes, he was 21 years old when he signed his entry level contract with the Flyers.
2) Under the waiver rules for 21-year-old skaters, it is a three-year window for exemption (Akeson has now played three seasons of pro hockey).

Here is the miniscule difference between LA, the top Corsi team in the League, and the Flyers.
In the 13/14 NHL Season, according to extraskater.com, the LA Kings were the best possession team in the NHL. The Flyers were ranked in the top of the bottom 1/3 in the League, ranked 20th overall.
So let's look at some numbers.
LA had 3,890 Corsi events for, and 2,956 Corsi events against.
The Flyers had 3,512 Corsi events for, and 3,516 Corsi events against.
Let's break that down to a per game, and per period basis.
LA registered 5 more Corsi events for, and gave up 6 less Corsi events against, per game then the Flyers have.
Broken down per period, LA registered 1.6 more Corsi events for then the Flyers, and gave up 2 less Corsi events against, then the Flyers did. Per period
That's not shots on goal. It's shots attempted. Whether the shot missed the net, was blocked, hit the net, etc.
That's the miniscule difference between the top Corsi team in the League, LA, and the Flyers, ranked 20th. - MJL
What are you talking about... difference between LA and PHI is +18 per 60min in close situations. That's huge.

Firing 5 more shot attempts and allowing 6 less shot attempts per game is a big deal. |

LA 47 for 36 against.
Means that vs ANY team in the league they generated 11 more shots per game. More than 3 a period.
Where do you get 1.6?

5 on 5 play. Same for the Rangers.
The Rangers average 47 Corsi events for per game at 5 on 5 play. They average 42.6 Corsi events against in 5 on 5 play.
That breaks down to 15.6 Corsi events for per period, and 14.2 Corsi events against per period.
The Flyers averaged 42.8 Corsi events for per game, and 42.8 Corsi events against per period.
That breaks down to 14.2 Corsi events for per period, and 14.2 Coris events against per period.
The difference between the Flyers and the Rangers in the regular season at 5 on 5 play, is 1.4 Corsi events for. Or 4.2 Corsi events for per game. It's miniscule. |

1) You're probably not confining the data to close situations, to account for score effects,
2) You can't just divide the total events by 82 to get the per game... some teams spend more minutes per game at ES, others, like the Flyers, spend more time up and down a man,
3) Why are you doing the math yourself? The drop-down in Extraskater can easily convert the totals to /60 rates.
