Broken down per period. Which is exactly what it says. - MJL
LA generates 11 more shots than the opponent per game. That is 3.66 shots a period. NOT 1.6. |

Sure I did! - MJL
I appreciate the effort, but we use these numbers in "Close" situations only. This way it eliminates the skewing by "Score Effects." |

1) You're probably not confining the data to close situations, to account for score effects,
2) You can't just divide the total events by 82 to get the per game... some teams spend more minutes per game at ES, others, like the Flyers, spend more time up and down a man,
3) Why are you doing the math yourself? The drop-down in Extraskater can easily convert the totals to /60 rates. - Tomahawk
What happened to looking at 5 on 5 play? Each time the critieria changes. Yes, when looking at simple Corsi at 5 on 5 play, you can just divide the total events to get the per game.
I'm looking at per game and per period. |

What do you mean you can't you just photoshop the jagged edges away? Sorry, but I only have my company logo available in this 200x50 jpeg. - Tomahawk
I love when they ask to print in silver or gold or here's our logo on a reflective sticker, can you make that work. |

Firing 5 more shot attempts and allowing 6 less shot attempts per game is a big deal. - PhillySportsGuy
No offense, but no it isn't. It's note-worthy, I guess. But it's most certainly not a "big deal".
This the part where Advanced Stats become way involved for me. To be talking about single digit differential shot ATTEMPTS in the game of hockey is just ridiculous to me.
That difference alone doesn't equate to anything tangible. All that tells me from a glance is that the teams (likely) play two different styles of hockey, meaning each team is likely better/worse at different aspects of the game compared to the other. It doesn't effectively provide you with any useful information.

Who exactly is "we"? Close situations is not the only way to look at it. If it was, then the numbers for total 5 on 5 play, wouldn't be kept. |

Not sure why you can't figure out what I typed there. I broke it down to CF and CA, for per game and per period. |

With a sv% of like .910 and and a regular shot block rate of like 10%
That is like .75 goals per game. How is that not a HUGE difference? |

Maybe I should link some of your posts where you corrected me for using total Corsi for the whole game, where you said it should be limited to 5 on 5 play. Now that I've shown how insignificant the 5 on 5 numbers are, and provided some context. Now it is only 5 on 5 close that matters. |

Close situations is the not the only way to look at it. That is correct.

But you don't understand how that stat works. LA stops the Flyers from generating offense, Flyers redeem their 50% corsi by playing the worse teams after getting beat by LA in this department. You can't compare the two teams like that. That is NOT how you read that stat. |

5V5 close is what we're talking about.
Teams that go up 2+ goals sit back -- aka score effects. |

Corsi stats were created by Ed Snider and his minions of cyber-web writers to distract Flyers fans from the issues of club-culture, all the while distracting the fans from the true reality that they have not won a cup in almost 40 years. |
