When he's just calling the game I enjoy him. It's his blatant homer bias and his opinions on the game that bug me. How many times have I heard Keith Jones or Clement correct him or disagree? - funmaster18
I won't soon forget one call from the Rangers series...one of our guys goes down on his own and JJ says, "...and NO CALL!"
After the play is blown dead, he comes back with, "Did he go down on his own or was he tripped?"
Always right on top of things. I could handle a change in the booth.

If the flyers win a cup under hextall, does that mean the "fancy stat" guys win? - FlyersSteve118
All the recent Cup winners have all used some level of analytics... I'm not surprised that Hexy picked up the importance of combing through data from Lombardi, who's thoroughness is legend. |

when i say worked, i'm talking about winning the cup. 2010 SCF Game 6 called...
and you know my stance on the overall production of the live flyers game experience. i'll just leave it there. - hammarby31
It reminds me of a high school dance, if that makes any sense |

i'm not sure it does exactly, but the connotation is negative, so that works for me. |

Exactly. If he just kept his opinions and fandom to himself if be fine with him. His voice and announcing style aren't what bothers me |

Much, becuase I can imagine his smug smile hen he came up with it the second they acquired mason. I bet it was a long summer for him. - funmaster18
i'm sure he's heard that one before, and honestly, as soon as we got mason, i knew he would use it. i distinctly remember laughing the first time and saying to myself "there it is." |

We knew the long term deal without a no trade clause was death to amac. Bringing in an analytics guy has all but set it in stone |

The art form that is 'calling the game' is all but gone, and it lost another one this year with Bob Cole's retirement.

He did mention something about shaving a bit off here and there to help with the cap situation and maybe go with a "lesser" player in that position, but he'd need willing dance partners to make it happen... |

Who knows what he has in mind, though. He could have been talking about replacing Schenn w/ Lauridsen, for all we know. |

He still does games on Hockey Night in Canada. He is on the 2nd crew. He was great in his day but now he seems lost. He is getting too slow. |

I was at a Devils playoff game a few years ago, sitting next to a 5 year old kid all amped up on soda and cotton candy, that dumb song came on and he started acting like a friggin chimp on crack. I had to go out to the concourse. |
