Washington. He was picked in the same draft as Laughton. Instead of staying in Juniors, they called him up and played him in a Rinaldo role on the 4th line. He played 82 games, had 10 points and 151 PIM - PhillySportsGuy

I just dont see how having a guy play 4th line energy player helps his development. If you're going to keep a 19 year old, he should do more than "not look out of place." |

These are the names of our top prospects on defenseman.
- SuperSchennBros
Gus isn't a prospect anymore and the Flyers management don't seem to rate him.
Alt is the fourth defensive prospect we have who could possibly be in the NHL next year. |

i don't even know who tom wilson is, or what team he plays for. jeeez. i think i'm losing interest. - hammarby31
Tom Wilson is the kind of player that Bob Clarke would have tried to draft twice if he was able to.
Big, tough, fast, and Canadian. |

I think its just 1 year. It's standard operating procedure for coaches in all sports. Coaches rarely go into a season with 1 year left on their deal. |

I still think Vasiliev is a decent prospect. He played in the WJC and looked pretty good.
I wish they could have convinced him to come play for the Phantoms. |

There will be folks to come along shortly that will tell you that is precisely what should have been done with Scott Laughton and DON'T YOU KNOW THAT MIKE RICHARDS STARTED OUT THAT WAY?1?!!??
FWIW, I don't think a full year in the AHL will kill this kid. I realize he's not quite 20 years old, which, I guess, makes him Methuselah and we need to promote him to the big club before his prime, hockey playing years, pass him by. |

Things are different when a player turns 20. He's bulked up a great deal and his ELC starts no matter what.
I think 4th line is fine as long as the player is playing a limited role of what he will be doing in the future. Couts played on the 4th line, but he matched up against tougher lines and played on the PK. Same with Richards. Thats why I dont mind seeing Laughton start on the 4th line. |

Unless it's the only option for the 4th line (and it's doubtful that would be the case), I don't see where getting extended minutes for a bit in the AHL will kill him. |

It won't kill him. I just think he's going to make it difficult to send him down. Personally, I feel he's going to be ready for the NHL. Its all speculation though.
Depending on what the team does this offseason, he could come in as a top 9 forward. Its doubtful but a possibility. |

I don't think him signing a two year deal in Russia is bad. He doesn't turn 20 till the end of May. |

What's our 4th line without Laughton if Raffl is needed in the top 9? Rosehill-Hall-Rinaldo? |

Its not bad. I just think he'd benefit from coming to the states now and learning the language and playing on the smaller ice. I feel it will make the transition a little easier. |

i hope hextall creates a watershed by eliminating guys like rinaldo and rosehill, and no longer drafts players of that ilk.
a team needs 4 lines who can skate and maintain puck possession. otherwise, why not just roll 3 lines? 5 minutes of ice a night is a waste of time. |
