He did some good things early on...and the team does have the pieces going forward....But I think its time for a different vision. - landros 2

If Kimmo wants anything more than 4, the Flyers have to walk away. I would prefer he signs for 2, if he is truly honest about saying its about a cup and not the money. - MBFlyerfan
If he comes back I could see him playing 15-16 minutes a game, maybe on a pair with Luke Schenn.
The salary needs to be commensurate with that kind of role. At 6M you should get a top pair all situation player.
To me Coburn is their #2 guy and they need to find him a D partner to play the big minutes. As great as Kimmo has been he really is not that player anymore. |

The more interesting the better.
They absolutely cannot come back with the same exact forward group, and the same D group minus Kimmo. That would suck IMO. - Marc D
Completely agree, Marc. I'm very excited to see what hextall does. I hope he has a plan in place alreay. I'm willing to bet the house this has been in the works for a while and I don't mean since he was brought in. I think the last few months they probably decide this was the way they were going to go. |

Ideally, I would want it to be a lawyer/suit-type who can really help with negotiations, navigating the CBA and making sure all the details are taken care of -- somebody really smart and savvy. - Tomahawk

Then why was Holmgren scoffing at the suggestion just the other day? |

I think the timing of the move may have been rushed by the GM openings around the league and to keep Hexy from moving on. But sure, he was brought here to be the GM at some point. |

Becuase why would he send a message of "yeah I'm ready to leave this position". That sounds like he doesn't want it to seem that he doesn't want to do it anymore or that it wasn't his choice. That's what I get out of it. Just becuase it's been in the works doesn't mean holmgren wanted to go along with it. Maybe he did want to stay where he was as GM. I don't think his comments tell us anything about how long this was in the works. |

I don't know. If they felt holmgren was still the right guy I doubt they'd make a change just so hextall didn't leave. I think holmgren did well but the team leveled off and that's the reason for the change. |

Missing the PO's last season and not making it out of the 1st-round this season might have had something to do w/ it, too. |

I see Coburn and Grossman as trade chips, ditto Hartnell. |

I think we need to realize that these guys lie to us all the time and that's just part of the job. It's ok |

Not sure how eager teams will be to trade for grossman coming off another lower-body-surgery-requiring injury and hartnell has a NMC so it's up to him. |

the coburn one could happen but they really need the right guy coming back to fill his role
I mean trading to EDM for 2 second rounders and then you are in full tank mode |

That's all it is. 8 years, playof performances have been getting slightly worse, it's time. He built a nice core but it's time for tht core to go to the next level and hopefully a fresh set of eyes will help. |

Hextall: building around young players and draft picks... doesn't want to trade young players for older vets.
 - Tomahawk
I picked up on that. I think he would rather play Ghost, Alt, Morin or another youngster instead of bringing back Kimmo.
Also I think he will look to move Hartnell and/or Vinny to get picks and younger |

Talking about how he's focused on hanging on to picks, carefully developing players, and building around homegrown talent. |
