I think he would have ideally liked to have been a Pres./Senior VP of Hockey Ops, like a lot of other GM's have been "promoted" to in the past (including Clarke)... it's just weird that they'd tab him for the leader of the business side of things, when he admittedly has very little practical experience at that sort of thing. Does he really want to be fund-raising for the Flyers Carnival, setting popcorn prices, and setting strategy for season ticket renewals? He seems like a hockey guy, first and foremost. It's just an odd situation. - Tomahawk
I thought he was promoted to Pres of Hockey Ops? I'm confused...I really haven't been in the loop honestly. I've been so damn busy.
Can someone help a brother out?
It is a really...different.... situation though. I agree. |

He's replacing Luukko, who was more on the Comcast-Spectacor side of things, versus the Flyers side of things.
And he's got guys "under" him now that are experienced and autonomous.
If you read between the lines, it seems like he was turned into a harmless figurehead for the time-being, and given a chance to show he can adapt to a completely different role in the org. |

Ah ok very good. I'm sure he's gonna have some say in the hockey ops portion though, right? |

By in large he was removed as GM and was reassigned to replace a guy who had very little to no input into player personnel. |

According to Holmgren, he may do a little scouting, or offer some advice. But Hextall has final say on forming the team.

Right, just like any other GM.
Still probably will be some sort of advisor. I'm sure Homer isn't gone completely from the hockey ops portion of the team |

There is really no basis to describe Holmgren's new position as such.

I'm quite sure that Holmgren is going to be available to help mentor and advise Hextall.

It's doesn't? I know Holmgren is going to excel in his new role. I don't want any ceiling placed on his future. Surely another position can be created. |

If your lucky, maybe Holmgren will do so poorly, that he may actually be fired. And a party can be planned!

He's been removed as GM. That's all I care about. Makes no difference to me that he was given some useless title. |

I think that his title of Team President is declared as useless, pretty much shows the bias. |

He probably doesn't need the money now, he probably wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't a GM, President, or doing something else within a franchise |
