Sure it made sense. I remember back to a conversation in the beginning of the season. Where you again stated that the Flyers can't score and won't score until they get better players. What did I say needed to happen? And what did happen?
Clearly, as I'll explain again, stating that Wing is the least important position on the ice, is not the same as saying the position is unimportant. Nor does it state that the Flyers couldn't use a better LW.
But in an effort for full disclosure, what it does mean is that the Flyers should focus first on the area of the team that is most important, before devoting any assets to the Wing. And that position, which is the biggest need, is defense. That is the entire point.
And the situation in Chicago has squat to do with it. Because if we had Keith and Seabrooke on the back end, along with what we have at Center, along with Mason. I'd be right there with you saying let's go out and get some better wingers! But that's not the case is it? - MJL
So because we had a bunch of 20-goal scorers who couldn't score in the playoffs, we should be OK with it? The depth the Flyers have at center isn't offset by the weakness at the wing position, and the weakness the Flyers have on defense is harder to address -- that's the entire point!
In other words, and very simply: Where are you getting the defensemen from?
I'll answer that: You might not get one. Because there aren't enough to go around.
So trying to spin it that the wingers the Flyers have would be good enough because some of them scored 20 goals -- well, again, you were right: Some of them scored 20 goals.
And yet, they still weren't good enough when it mattered the most. And finding wingers will be easier than addressing the holes on the back end. We all know that.

So, new topic
Hextall seemed to stress being strong up the middle. With D being so costly to upgrade (either in $$ or in assets), does he perhaps try to package B Schenn in a deal to acquire an impact center?
This of course assumes they are able to deal VL |

That's why I'd pay for an "Ignore" feature. Wouldn't bother me to be ignored, but Sweet Jesus, I'd love to be able to click that button and be done with it forever

I didn't say a word about the Flyers wingers being good enough, or anything about having 7 20 goal scorers. I simply said stated a number of factors in why I think the Flyers priority should be addressing the needs that I view are more important. And assigning a priority to those needs. And that priority is defense. I would like the Flyers to add a winger with some speed or skill. Or have a player such as Akeson work out. That would be great. You took my post and completely misinterpreted it into the Flyers wingers are good enough, and they don't need to do anything there, and that the Wing position is not important. And that interpretation was completely wrong. Because statements I made in my post, which you completely ignored was "it would be great to add a dynamic LW", and "I'm not against shoring up that spot if the assets are available, but not to the detriment of other needs". |

I'd rather keep B Schenn then to add a high cap hit Center.

Its a real pipe dream but I wouldn't mind trying to trade up into the top 3 if I could grab Draisaitl. I think that kid is going to be a star. |
