He went all Erik Karlsson one year for the Pro B's... like 20+ goals and ppg, something crazy like that. - Tomahawk
Yes, we call that the Cheechoo effect. Yes, he has a nice shot, but he's not much for moving it through the neutral zone. |

How about a guy like Nikita Nikitin or Paul Ranger if they come cheaply? |

B's, Kings, Hawks? Ok. Rangers and Pens? The Flyers are close. - wolfhounds

I think he's alright for what he is. I dont think he'll ever top 30 points, but he can chip in around 20 points each season. Not bad for a guy who is relied on more for defense.
I'm hoping Luke Schenn develops into a player along those lines. Strong defensively and can get you 20 points. |

If he hit FA, I'd be all over it. But then we'd all hate him for being slow and blowing assignments. He's like a slightly better Grossmann, defensively, without the shot blocks. |

I'm looking at Fayne and Redmond as the two potentially huge value adds from UFA. Both are righties, capable two-way players, and have good size. Really think Fayne's got some hidden offense in his stick on a more shoot-happy team, and Redmond's buried behind Buff/Trouba/Bogo/Postma but still has a lot of potential. - Tomahawk
Fayne is interesting if Grossmann is leaving. But is Redmond much of an upgrade on Alt? |

Upgrading on Grossmann is what I had in mind. I don't for a second think that Redmond or Fayne (or Boychuck or Garrison) could come anywhere close to filling the need at the top-end. Hopefully the kids will be able to do that. |

If he is, it might not be much, but he's a 25-yo UFA... nothing to lose by adding him. |

I think Redmond might give you better goal production from the back end, but the puck-moving skills could be about equal.
Crazy question, but...if he comes ~$1.5M, would you be interested in Mez? |

Beat up on the Pens well enough. Took the Rangers to a game 7. I understand there are metrics that say otherwise, that say the gap is significant, but the Flyers won games against those teams, and they went through stretches beating the best teams in the league. And that's with the well known holes in D. That's 'close' in my book. |

Strangely I think Mez gets more than that. Good for him. No one would touch him with a stick at the beginning of the season and he's fought his way back.
I think he tries free agency and moves off the B's to be perfectly honest. No way is he coming back here. |

I think that, if he's healthy, Mason wins one of the games that Emery lost and we take it in Game 6. |

He's rubber, you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off of him and sticks to MJL. |

I dont really want him back. I can see why he'd be appealing because his offensive numbers are strong in limited action. I just don't like him defensively. He's very weak in his own zone right now. He may regain some strength, but I'll let someone else take on that reclamation project. |

Maybe. Depends on what else is out there.
My concern with Mez (other than the fact that we overpaid him in the past) is that the physical part of his game is gone forever. |

I'm with you on Redmond, not as much on Fayne...although either would probably be better than Gill in terms of being a 6/7 guy, especially at moving puck and mobility |

Nope. They have enough one dimensional guys, and after all the injuries and what-not, Meszaros is a one dimensional guy who is shaky in own end, doesn't move the puck especially well and basically is there as a shooter. |

Yup. I hate thinking about what might have happened if Mason had started the series. Just another reason I want the Pens eliminated first, then the Rags. |
