Word on Orpik?
How about one of Samuelsson/Dumoulin If Portland goes out in the WHL Finals, they could call up Pouliot.
Actually, the real question is: WHERE THE HELL IS DESPRES AND WHY IS HE NOT PLAYING!?!? |

In the end, he won a Super Bowl he had no right even being in. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Steelers fan. I guess that kind of coach, the one who'd grab you by your helmet and let you know when he was pissed at you, worked better for me than the soothing "all is well" coach. - jmatchett383

They won 3 games in round one when trailing by 2 goals - dbell646
Justifying anything positive based on round 1 results OR the results of any series the Pens have played in the past 3 years playoffs is excusing a disinterested team that has an expectation that they can win on talent alone at least 4 out of 7 games and has no interest in playing a playoff-style game or a hard-working game for any of those 4 games unless absolutely necessary. |

I had this exact convo with a friend today. He was talking Despres, and we all know that isnt going to happen this far into the playoffs. Would be throwing him to the wolves and it isnt the same as when we were down 3-0 to Philly in 2012 and he was brought up. Engo would be a welcomed relief at this point. |

That was against a team with zero postseason experience and a goalie who had some serious issues.
This a team with tons of playoff experience and possibly the best goalie in the world.
It's a wee bit different. |

Orpik over Scuds, but that's just like choosing the somewhat less fat chick. Either way you're gonna get squished. |

Why Engo isn't playing over Adams at this point and flipping back and forth between 4th line and D when necessary (especially with how bad Scuds looks and how gassed/sick Maatta looked last night) is beyond me. Except for maybe not using him as a forward on the PK and losing one of their "regular" PK guys by taking Adams out of the lineup. |

Yeah, but the somewhat less fat chick will probably let you go places the fatter chick physically can't. |

I agree entirely. I was pointing out that using the results of last series or even the 2 against the Isles & Sens last year or even the Sens 3 years ago as positive reinforcement that there's nothing wrong with their level of play is entirely ignoring their effort level. Because those were series that you could lollygag your way thru and probably come away with a win. But this one or next one? Not f-ing likely. |

Agreed. When I think about this team playing the Rags this season I immediately think of Engelland skating through Jon Moore. |

Having Engo around as a potential 7th D/extra winger for 4th line at this point should outweigh any benefit of having Adams play on the PK(of which there no benefit). |

I don't disagree. Just not sure who they would use to fill his spot on the PK. With the effort level of everyone in the top 6 for the past 2 games and most of the 1st round (and game 1 of this round. And to be entirely honest, probably the last 4 freaking years of playoff hockey outside of games 2-4 of this series), I wouldn't want any of them anywhere near the PK. They're allergic to their own zone again. |

I'm gonna blame the Philly writers. They basically create stories out of thin air. This guy must have realized that they're on to something and decided to just pull a few quotes out of his rectum...or maybe a less fat girl's rectum. |

Let Jokinen, Stemoniak, Goc all walk, along with almost every other UFA. This comes from another thread. All you are about is trading or letting everyone walk without talking about solutions. Adding Despres to Neal subtracts from the return. It doesn't add to it. The only deal that makes sense and impact for Kesler and something that Vancouver might bite on is a straight Letang for Kesler swap. They need a PMD, we need grit, plus Kesler doesn't want to be there.
Trade Neal for prospects. How nice. And then you not only are looking for a winger for Sid again, but another one for Malkin and quite possibly two if Jokinen walks. Have you looked at the free agent list there? I don't think you have. Why? Because there are no long term answers out there. Everyone is a third line guy, or on their last legs in the league. Trading him for prospects isn't smart and doesn't help Pittsburgh in 2014-2015 for starters. - Oneonta Penguin
I agree, especially with Fleury. Halak, Hiller, or Miller aren't going to improve too much with the way this team plays. Moving Letang frees up space, but at the end of the day Letang is still the Pens best D man, or Martin. So move your best and replace him with Despress and some rookies? I would try and trade Scuds to free up space, let Orpik walk, re sign Nisk if possible and add 2 rookies. Its time Shero's picks contribute.
On Offense, I think you must resign Jussi, Stemp or Goc I could take or leave. You have nothing to replace Sutter with, so you're stuck again.
Most likely Byslma gets canned, a few adjustments are made, if that doesn't work then drastic moves are made. |
