Brian Elliott, Thomas Griess, Jonas Gustavsson, JS Giguere, Al Montoya, Chad Johnson are all UFA this summer. All of whom had better numbers than Emery.
Grossmann is limited. He is bad at transition, when he is on the ice, the Flyers are generally bad at getting out of their own end. A guy like Mark Fayne or Zach Redmond(as discussed on yesterday's blog) will be better in that regard and possibly cost less against the cap. - Jsaquella
The Grossmann side of this post is simply unfair to place on the shoulders of one player. |

The more I think about it Hartnell is like the opposite of LeClair.
LeClair almost never fell down let alone was knocked down or pushed down from opposing player checks.
It's great that Hartnell embraced the criticism of his skating/balance issues and gives to charity but can you imagine if Hartnell was tough to knock down? How many plays or missed opportunities have we watched with a sliding/fallen/falling Hartnell helplessly out of the play? |

Ignoring even the most basic of stats is plain embarrassing. - Feanor
Embarrassing to whom?
So do those guys. All of them have been in the league for a few years and know their jobs....and played better than Emery - Jsaquella
Do you two think Brian Elliott feels he's just another back up? |

No, it's not. He's bad at transition. His possession numbers are bad, and the numbers of everyone he plays with are worse when they are with him than without him.
Granted it's not all him, but it's a pretty bad trend. He's not good with the puck at all, he's not a good or fast skater and he's a limited player.
I don't deny that he's a warrior and tough as nails and plays through injuries that would sideline a lot of others. But he's a limited player. I want guys who are not limited to being physical and blocking shots. |

Considering he's been a back up the last two seasons, and his team just traded a mountain of assets at the TDL for a goalie...yeah, probably. |

I'm ready for the Flyers and Grossmann to part ways. Add Timonen to that list as well. |

His team noticed an opening to grab a player who's been considered one of the better goaltenders in the league, it's kind of a no-brainer but it also doesn't make Elliott an automatic back up. He's done pretty great things that the NHL level. |

It's not about perfect, it's about icing a better team.
Grossmann gets killed in terms of possession. His physicality is nice, but I'd rather have somebody who can skate and hit. If I have to have a limited player, I'd rather it be one not eating $3.5mm in cap space. |

What exactly has made us a better team since trading Carter and Richards? As it stands our playoff record prior to trading them was much better. This isn't to same I hate nor blame what we already have.
I say pair Grossmann with somebody better than Mark Streit. |

Brian Elliott? The guy who has been below league average for pretty much every team he's played on except St Louis? He's had two seasons in his NHL career when his save % was over .910. |
