I think he is trying to say put a team together that can play defense. And Grossmann won't look so bad.

But, that is flawed logic as well. The team wasn't that bad defensively and was caused in part by the insane cost of our defensive group to begin with.

They are 3 guys who basically do the same things well.

None of those skills that they do well helps the Flyers transition the puck better or "play faster". Someone's (or multiple someones who did not recently receive a big fat extension) got to go.

I think they would trade Grossmann in the right deal (even though it appears the org actually really likes Nick) and I think they'd personally drive Luke Schenn to whatever city that ices an NHL team that would accept him in trade.

Nah, gotta keep schenn. Hes young and physical and has had some success. I dont hate Grossmann, but I just think he is clear choice to be moved in the off season. Just because of age and injury issues. Flyers have absolutely no choice but to move someone in the d corps in order to ice a competitive roster next year.
