its just a shame he panders to the lower spectrum of the intelligence scale. the cognizant fans deserve better. - stayinthefnnet
I know. He's a microcosm of the problem with journalism.
1. Be the first to report no matter if its right or wrong.
2. Don't worry about people's feelings.
3. Say anything to draw attention to the article |

I know. He really should be mocked and ridiculed for his articles. 90% of them are absurd and strictly meant to draw hits. |

i dont mean this as an insult against flyers fans, because they have far from cornered the market on stupidity in this world.
but people are (frank)ing dumb. like you said. people should rebuke it. not shovel it down their stupid mouths.
guys like your own blogger here should get that shot. just for the good of the medium's sake. |

I think society is just dumb. The simpler the article, the more fans will enjoy it.

in a way the internet is just yet another soapbox for dumb people to spew their fluids from.
although i guess the same could be said for those with merit too.

I just dont understand how people can value his writing. Its so bad. - PhillySportsGuy
15 - 20 yrs ago he was the best on the beat imo. He's trying to find a niche and is going about it the wrong way. He's painfully struggling in the new media that's sprung up around him.
He was always a good writer, that doesn't just go away. He needs to stick to writing and forget about trying to grab attention. Good, hard work will get you noticed. I'm not a huge fan of Bill's writing style but his hard work and wealth of information make him a must read for me every day. If his blog disappeared one day I'd be lost on who to read first. Earnest work will get you a loyal following every time. |

Every team has their unintelligent fans. The dumb ones are always the more vocal ones too.
A guy in the Pens thread was suggesting sitting Crosby for Game 7. |

exactly. no theories. no insight. no research. just like anything else. if it requires some sort of thought, it isnt mass appeal.
you just need certain keywords in there, mix in some manufactured emotion one way or the other. and rah rah. |

i meant that more as just people in general. its not even limited to sports teams.
this same approach were bemoaning right now is sadly more just indicative of people as a whole.
sports media is a facet of a larger problem. |

yeah, but to me the habitual practice of those latter two attributes yield a result somewhat congruent with the outcome of if it was just the first one all along. |

The internet is a soapbox, for sure. It's a way to get your thoughts out before you have time to decide if it was a good idea or not. Kind of like drinking |
