The Habs have only been shorthanded 22 times in the playoffs.
Wonder why |

The trouble is, outside of the penalties, Lecavalier wasn't playing equal to Schenn. It's not just the playoffs, it's over the course of the entire season. Schenn played better in terms of possession, in terms of generating chances than Lecavalier did over the 82 game season.
In terms of possession and generating shots, Schenn was markedly better than Lecavalier in the playoffs. - Jsaquella
Lecavalier has the highest shooting percentage on the team! In terms of goals, Lecavalier was doing it hurt and while sitting out most of the first half of the season. Not to mention Lecavalier was playing outside of his natural position. |

Yes, he had a good game against Boston. Then he had 7 bad ones against the Rangers. - Jsaquella

That might be Brookbank's last shift of the game. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Chicago win a third cup mainly because I think Toews is the best all-around player in the game.

I would mind. I would mind very, very hard.
And Toews makes a real good case for it. Datsyuk is still my pick though. The "X-factor" he has is far greater than Toews. Datsyuk can just take over a game at will...not many guys can do that. And we all know about his exceptional defensive prowess... |

Yes, he did. He shot 0.6% better than Matt Read & Jay Rosehill.
The trouble is, the Flyers got outshot almost 2-1 when Lecavalier was on the ice over the course of the entire season. When you factor in that he played against the weakest competition AND started almost 2/3rds of his shifts in the offensive zone, that's really awful.
In other words, his high shooting percentage is overwhelmed by how badly his line played in terms of generating shots and chances. |

Hypothetically, they bring back Kimmo at $4 million, but ship out Grossmann, and one of Alt, Ghost, or Morin start in the top 6. What is your opinion, then just curious? - ravishingone
That would be trickier, because then, the salary wouldn't be as much of a concern - I am somewhat concerned about how much Timonen would be paid.
I guess, if I had to answer today, if that scenario was in play, I could go forward with it. Don't think Morin is ready, but if Alt or Ghost legitimately make the team, it becomes something where having Timonen in a reduced role might help, if Grossmann were gone. |

mathematically, how badly did we get out shot with Lecavalier and Grossman on the ice together? I've gotta know. |

Love it when goalies get all pissed and blocker the faces of opponents when they fall into them, even though 80% the contact is from a defensman pushing the opponent into the goalie |

I understand, I give Toews the edge now because Datsyuk has a ton of miles on the odometer, I don't think he can play 82 games and playoffs at his usual high level. Great in spurts, but not as dominant as 5 years ago. Tremendous player, I know I'm splitting hairs.

I like Datsyuk a lot too, but Toews definitely has the X factor too. He's vocal and he backs it up. Already has the most GWG playoff goals in Hawks history. He scored on something like 7 straight shootout attempts in one game in the World Juniors. The guy definitely has the X factor. |

Sure. Hartnell, Brayden Schenn. Andrew MacDonald. Kimmo Timonen. Brayden Coburn.
It's not all Lecavalier, but as a 34 year old, limited player (he is ineffective at wing, can't play a defensive role, doesn't skate well) and given the new GM's comments about making sure that the team gets guys that "fit in better" and that they're going to "stick with the kids" Lecavalier sticks out as a guy who the new GM will likely try to move.
He should, but he shouldn't stop there. |

It is splitting hairs, but what does it matter. I mean, I was splitting hairs too.
Datsyuk is also one of my favorite non Flyers, so I could be jaded

Truth. Just to be clear, it's not like I'm saying Toews isn't clutch or have that X factor, but the way Datsyuk can just take over a game, like I said, is something not many guys can do.... |

I never said he didn't bad season. I invite you to prove otherwise. I just think it would be S.T.U.P.I.D to suggest we should trade him or believe he couldn't bounce back. Your thoughts... |

Which is just silly.
Arguing about whether he's "done" is one thing, but just condoning his subparness that we saw for 90% of the season (playoffs included) is just being stubborn. |

I don't see a need for a tone of adjustment, especially for a team that managed to turn around a slow start. I would have happily have faced anyone in the East outside of the New York Rangers in the Boston Bruins. The Bruins and Rangers simply have our number. |
