Wow. I think the problems at the NYT are more in features/opinion than in news. So I'm stunned.
but there's this with some background.

Pannotch was told (not asked) to move from hockey beat to Eagles beat. He refused and quit. I met with a Daily News editor that day on another issue and he told me about it (after witnessing the exchange in the Inky lobby). I confirmed with Pannotch and had my only blog scoop ever (mine was mostly an opinion/feature blog), May 22, 2008. |

Is it just me, or is anyone else really worried that the Penguins will fire both Shero & Bylsma and hire really good replacements? I kind of like both of them working in their current job for the Pens. |

Here's a fun (maybe) game... assuming you could only protect 1 goalie, 5 D, and 9F in the entire organization for the expansion draft, who would you protect? - Tomahawk

if the rumors were true that hextall got contacted by a team(s) who do you think it was? |

Vancouver & Washington were both rumored. I wouldn't be amazed if it was one or both of them.
Reading guys like Freidman, Hextall was a very hot candidate if the Flyers didn't McCammon him up the chain. |

assuming there are two BPAs available, and I know that's not possible really, would you take a forward or a d with the 1st round pick?

I'm totally neutral on position, really. Unless they trade up it's very possible they'll have good options at both F and D as their BPA. Could be a winger like Adrian Kempe, Sonny Milano or Kevin Fiala. Could be a center like Jared McCann. Maybe a defenseman like Julius Honka or Hayden Fleury ends up at the spot.
I could see them maybe trading down into the 20's to add more picks, too. Not a ton of separation (in the view of a lot of draftniks) between 11 & 35 or so. |

It's definitely opinion based. Opinion based with a side of politics, IMO. |

i would really like to see them try to add some skill at the F position. |

You traded the Schenn brothers and didnt get a roster player back in return? - hereticpride
Probably got back Meyers? |

Danny B doing what he does. Playing with a couple of cement head he's still producing.
If the Bruins lose tonight the Flyers secure a second round pick for the Meszaros trade right? |

No. Boston must reach the ECF, to my understanding |

To NO:
Jrue Holiday
To Philly:
Nerlens Noel
2014 First rounder (Top 5 protected)
I believe New Orleans has a 5% chance of finishing with a top 5 pick this year. Sixers will likely get the 10th pick along with their top 5 selection (hopefully top 3). - PhillySportsGuy
Yep. 4.9% for a top 3(zero for 4 & 5). |

Mez needs to play in 2/3 of the post season games which he won't unless he plays in the majority of their remaining games. |

Ok so I hate everything basketball, but to my understanding, the 26ers have how many picks in the first round this year? 3 and all of them are high?

I'm pretty sure it's both. They need to reach the ECF with mez playing in 2/3rds of the games...
I could be wrong. |

Sixers have 1 guaranteed 1sr rd pick which will be 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. They have a 95.1% chance of getting the NO pick which would be 10, 11, 12 or 13.
They also have 5 2nd round picks.

in basketball, don't they usually make ridiculous trades, like all the picks plus 1/2 their team for 3 guys from another team? seems that way some times. |
