I was just saying that I don't think they would sign Amac only to turn around and deal Coburn. I'll be furious.
I don't think it would be a big deal. From a business standpoint, players and agents should be understanding of the GM change and potential trades that may happen. - JFlyers00
Yeah, I can see how that would be frustrating. I guess I wasn't looking at it from a standpoint of AMac replacing Coburn.
Coburn moves the puck better than I give him credit for and he is another guy that is playing with more responsibility than he should be.
Again, I'm probably just "Matt Carle"ing him lol |

Its different when a New GM takes office and tries to "fix" the mistakes of the old GM. Normally this doesn't raise the same sort of questions this way. - FlyersSteve118
Normally, I would agree, but Amac would be the 5th player to have that happen to him in the last 4 years of the Flyers.

I dont think Coburn can be the lead on a pair. He needs to have a strong partner. He's not the type of guy who is going to elevate the play of another defenseman. I think he's similar to Carle in that respect.
The Flyers seems to have too many of these types. Schenn, Coburn, Streit and Amac can all be effective players, but their level of play drops without a partner equally as good or better than them. |

|
It would really depend then. And the exact dynamic of the situation will never be known to us fans.
Hextall could of been opposed to the Amac deal? If Amac and his agent didn't negotiate the deal in some form with Hextall then they should be understanding. - JFlyers00
Also true. To me it's about erring on the side of caution. If there's a chance that it will negatively impact the way players look at signing here I wouldn't move him. At least not in the first year before he has played a single game. |

If they sign Stralman they will have another one of these guys.
I am more and more convinced that while Stralman is a nice player, his game is markedly elevated by playing with M Staal. |

Yup, seems like we pay players based on their pairing and not their individual talent too.
That's sort of why I would like to see a rebuild. They are overloaded with guys that need to be carried and have no guys to carry them.
Out of the guys you listed, I don't move Schenn because there is potential there. I don't move AMac because, as you said, add him to the list of guys they've done that to. More than likely no takers for Streit.
Coburn is the only one that would generate interest and get you anything in return. |

Its difficult to tell. Some people said the same thing about Suter. People thought his numbers and effectiveness we're inflated due to Weber. He's turned out to be just fine on his own.
I'm not comparing Suter to Stralman. I'm just comparing the situation. |

the greatest movie of all time. "the sure thing." 1985. - hammarby31
It was my favourite movie of all time until "Nick and Nora's infinite play list", I think someday I may actually have watched it more times than "The Sure Thing". I'm going to have to live quite a while though.
Just watched Gibson traverse the country last weekend. |

I just dont like the idea of moving Coburn. Its not like he's 34 years old. I would like to have him on the team for a while longer. I'm not interested in throwing the young guys to the wolves when they're ready. Coburn can take the top lines and allow the younger dmen to ease their way in.
I don't think it's unreasonable to bring in Morin and expect him to be a shutdown dman from the get go. I, also, don't want to see Ghost anywhere near top lines when he first breaks into the NHL.
The arguments for Streit and Amac were that they were mis-cast and forced to defend top lines. I don't see how putting them in that situation will be beneficial to anyone.
Coburn would need to bring back a massive overpayment for me to consider dealing him. |

Coburn is a bargain. He would get at least $5.5M on the open market. Possibly more. |

I remember reading an article that year claiming that Weber was a product of Suter. Not the way you're saying. I think it was backed by "fancy stats' so....

When you watch Playlist pay attention to the gum. May seem like a weird thing to say but it will enrich your viewing experience.
I watch Gib and Allison a few times a year at least. |

Suter, well I think you could tell he had "it" even when he played with Weber.
But you are right, it is tough to tell sometimes.

I think most people could. Thats why he was offered $100M contracts by multiple teams.
There was still that underlying thought though. |
