Same. I probably like him a little more than you, but wouldn't pay significant money for him. I would pay $2.5M at the absolute most. - PhillySportsGuy
Yeah, thatd be where I see him...like him as a 2nd/3rd line tweener, who can slide up & down situationally |

Yeah. I think thats what the team should be looking for in FA. Jokinen is probably the best of that group, but I think he may touch $4M.
Those guys who can play all over the lineup like Read and Raffl are very valuable. I would like them to add another. I feel Pouliot is fairly similar to those guys. |

Should I look back 5 years? Most if those "stars" who had bad short seasons rebounded...Vinny got worse.
Lecavalier is an aging player, he's going to be 34. Not a lot of guys rebound after two bad years at that age. I mean if were gonna look back at what he did at age 28 and think he can do it now, that's foolish.
Bottom line, Lecavalier is older, has sub par speed, isn't good defensively, routinely sees his team get outshot & outchanced when he's on the ice, routinely drags down the level of play if his line mates and doesn't fit the system the team has adopted.
He's a limited player, with a bad contract on a team with too many guys like that - Jsaquella
Well I'm glad your a fortune letter because I have no idea what he could do next season but I do think it's a possibility he could rebound. I do remember Teemu Selanne having a rough couple years with the avalanche and sharks but after the lockout nine years ago, he found new life with the Ducks. His career came full circle. Jagr has rebound after a stint with the Flyers that wasn't bad but wasn't eye popping either. I suppose the limited Jagr is weighing down the Devils or Jagr one their only bright spot and the Devils are weighing themselves down. I suppose you can look at it anyway you want, Jagr is an even worse skater then Vinny. |

The only change you made was adding Moulson. I've never seen a lineup proposal with so few changes on this site.
I don't think the Flyers can sign Moulson to $4M. He's looking in the $5.5-6M range |

Jagr didn't rebound, he went to Russia and played very well there after playing very well with the Rangers. Jagr's not limited to the extent Lecavalier is, because he's a dynamite possession player. Teemu had one down year, and rebounded immediately to 40 goals the next season. Lecavalier has had two or more seasons of decline.
It's not about being able to see the future, it's about looking at what is likely to happen. Given the way he played the last couple of seasons, how bad he looked as a Flyer, how poorly he fits into the system they are running and how limited he is-he can't play two way hockey, can't dominate along the boards like Jagr, can't sustain possession...he's a bad fit for this team and their situation right now.
If he goes to Nashville and plays in a different system, perhaps he rebounds, or at least ceases to be an anchor dragging his teammate down. |

Well I don't think this team needs major changes. It's more about finding the right line combos and letting the younger players continue to grow. I'd be ok with going 5-5.5 for Moulson on a 3 year deal but nothing longer than that.
I also thought about the possibility of dropping Voracek down to the second with Schenn and Harts to move Simmonds up with Giroux and Moulson. Voracek just seems to be the type of player that needs confidence to play well (like most players but especially him) and I'd be worried to see how he would respond to being put on the 2nd line.
Edit: I'm also trying to be as reasonable as possible with what the Flyers options actually are. |

Moulson didn't fit very well in Minnesota and he looked like a snail trying to keep up with the rest of the Wild. He did great with JT in NY, not sure adding another guy with questionable wheels is the right path |

Fair point. The main reason I thought of him was because of how well he played with JT and thought he could recreate some of that with Giroux. |

The closest Vinny ever got to Jagr/Selanne's level was when Art Williams called him the "Michael Jordan of hockey" at the draft.
I do expect VL to have a better season next year... but his limited effectiveness at ES has been a recurring theme with him stretching back 5+ years, and his defense was always been nonexistent. This team needs to improve at 5V5 and defensively much more than they need the marginal difference in goals between Vinny and whoever might replace him. |

Jagr did rebound. He left the NHL and was playing somewhere else for an extended period of time. Three years later he came here. He wasn't 100 percent as a Flyer. He was benched and had to sit out plenty and his numbers were only okay. He went to Dallas, Boston and New Jersey where he's played much better. Lecavalier could be viewed the same way. Lecavalier has had to adjust coming out of Tampa where he's played his entire career, the same comparison can be made to Jagr. It's a totally different style of Hockey overseas. |

Was Briere limited for us? Small, not physical, bad defensively. Did he play wing? Sure but not nearly as productive as he would be at center. Briere also saw his share of injuries. |

You're also talking to someone who never liked the signing in the first place, for the aforementioned reasons. |
