I am curious to see who Bill would like the Flyers to take. I would like to see if Nick Ritchie dropped to them Kid is huge and can skate. He is a natural winger and takes the puck to the net. - J35Bacher
I like him but I doubt he's still on the board at 17 |

I'm too damn lazy to look; is the 3rd we're getting for Meszaros in this draft or next year's? - AllInForFlyers

Yeah. He's likely a top 10 pick.
After the top 10, it's anyones guess. I could see a number of guys being available. I really like Honka. Even though he's a defenseman, I would be happy to see them take him.
Wouldn't be opposed to trading down a bit as well. They could use some extra picks with all the trading Homer has done lately. |

Thanks -- I know it's frustrating they gave up two picks for MacDonald, but really, the Meszaros deal means they get one of the picks back. It's not that bad, when you consider it through that lens, right?

They got a 2nd pair dman with good mobility who blocks shots and can play in all situations without giving up a 1st or a top prospect. I am totally fine with that. |

Especially in a draft that most scouts agree there is a real drop off after the first 10-12 picks. |

Think trading down to get rid of vinny would be a smart move?

Flyers have no 4th rounder this year and no 2nd rounder next year.
They can gain a 4th rounder for next year, if Mez re-signs with the Bruins. Highly unlikely considering Seidenberg will be back with them. |

So Lucic threatens 2 Montreal players in the post series handshake line

Not unless they feel they can get the same player a few picks later. I wouldn't trade down more than a few spots to do that. |

Exactly -- I don't love the contract, but the guy is signed, is a good age, is mobile enough and smart enough to have value in the league, even if we're unlucky and he plays horribly for the Flyers. I'd rather he play well, obviously, and if he does, a 2nd just isn't that horrific a price to pay.
I think we'll see some salary stabilization coming soon, and I do think that contract is movable if the Flyers ever decide they want to go that route.

Yup, after the Rangers and Pens, they have moved past the Devils for 3rd on my list of NHL teams I truly hate. |

I don't hate them. I just knew they weren't going to go down quietly though. I was worried they were going to take a run at Pacioretty after Briere put the game out of reach. |

Reminds me a little of 2005, where the Flyers moved down and took Steve Downie. Mike Keenan and Florida took Keenan McArdle, who never really made it.
Downie has his flaws, but he is an NHL player -- he's gonna get signed within the first few days of free agency, I bet. Too many soft teams in the league for him to not get another shot on a roster

Looking at the 2005 first round... I haven't heard of half those players. It's scary how many first rounders are actually busts. |

I'm A-OK with them picking the best available player no matter the spot. |
